Yep, that is certainly a possibility I had not thought of. There are people that will call the cops for anything.

These people should be fined for making frivolous police calls. This is taxpayer's money, the police not an unlimited resource.

I think they could do jail time.

Then it would cost even more :)

Is it wrong that I believe that cops shouldn't carry guns on their persons? Maybe have it their car but on their hip is too much for most to resist it seems. If you're a chickenshit then you should get fired on the spot if you're a cop, the nature of your job is that you fear for your life so we don't have to so there is obviously something very wrong when you have to fear for your life just being around these hair triggered cops.

It's pretty much a necessity for cops to carry a piece on their person since when you need a gun you need it NOW. The police misuse of power and lack of judgement is only a symptom of the decline of society.
You'll never see cops fired on the spot for chickenshit, either.

Cops hauling off with their firearms was happening long before this alleged decline of society.

No kidding.
It's the lack of common sense and that zero-tolerance frame of mind that drives incidents like this one. The same thing that gets an 8 year old arrested and hauled off to jail by the cops for a minor altercation at school or a 4th grader suspended for trying to make someone disappear with a "magic" ring.

Sums up my thoughts on the matter.

If that kid had a magic ring that could make people disappear, I would think the school staff who had disciplined him should have thought he could just make them disappear, too.
