Of course Putin wants a ceasefire, it will provide him with time to rebuild and prepare for another invasion attempt. How does one make a deal with someone who can't be expected to abide by the deal?

Ditto.

Not just Trump. I would add "Thanks" for the Democrats for nominating two candidates that a lot of reasonable non-MAGA people felt was a greater evil. They made the wrong choice, one I did not make, but the problem was that they were given that choice.

While this is not the fault of every individual American, this is an epic fail of the country as a whole.

Right now, part or all of present-day Poland and the Baltics would be part of Russia if Ukraine had not held off Russia at the very beginning of the war. Ukraine did that all on their own before any help arrived. And this is the thanks they get.

Trump considers pausing all military aid to Ukraine after Zelensky meeting - report

Quote:
The Trump administration is considering pausing all military aid to Ukraine, a senior White House official told the Washington Post on Friday.

The anonymous officials said that the pending decision would halt billions of dollars of radars, vehicles, ammunition, and missiles awaiting shipment to Ukraine.

Zelensky had come to Washington to sign a controversial critical minerals deal, wherein Ukraine would open up its vast mineral wealth to the United States. Still, it did not include American security guarantees, a disappointment for Ukraine.
It gives Washington the right to recoup some of the billions of dollars in costs of the US weaponry supplied to Kyiv through a reconstruction investment fund tied to the sale of Ukraine's rare earth minerals.

The anonymous senior administration official noted that he believed that Trump and Vance's barrage on Zelensky was not pre-planned. He pointed to the administration's efforts to create a more positive tone for the meeting, including the fact that Trump dropped his previous statement that Zelensky was a "dictator" before Friday.

This looked like something from a 3rd world country. I dunno, Dumbf--kistan or somewhere.

Now seriously and I am not being melodramatic, TBH I was a bit shaken and couldn't even watch it. Why? As someone who has been a victim of narcissism and gas lighting in the workplace and to an extent with family. The whole " You should be grateful" " If it wasn't for me" " Your can't do anything right " . This type of stuff I can't do.

It seemed like it was an ambush, I'm sure Trump staged the whole thing. Plus, Vance has no room to talk about anything, this bonehead was my senator for 2 years. He did nothing for Ohio.

It would almost be a joke of cosmic proportions that America's greatness was just a footnote in history. And it wouldn't be, except for that ORANGE ANUS TRUMP!! !

Same. I've had my experience with narcissistic abuse, and as soon as I saw that interview, I had to stop. I knew exactly what that was.

utterly disgraceful goombah behavior by those two GOP psychopaths, ganging up against zelensky like that. I never have been more ashamed to be a citizen of this $#!+hole country that that gang has turned this country into. I just can't figure out why the GOP so hates the Ukrainians.

I do not want to be a member or anything to do with a Country that Aligns itself with Communist Russia .. :ninja:
Many US veterans died fighting this same type of ideology I believe .
Sad day for the USA ..Am not understanding why the Orangeman has not been impeached yet ? In my days people
whom behaved as Trump did were referred to as Commie Lovers. Not very woke, am sorry but I grew up in a Democracy. Russia started attacking Ukraine . Now the Ukrainians just wish to be able to have their own country.
Back ? :ninja: ....Why does this madman , not see this. ? :skull: The Republican that critiqued Zelenskis choice of clothing in that meeting ..Needed to be taken out back to the shed and given a good paddling on his behind .
No excuse for that behaviour in a adult meeting !

I tend to see glasses as half full and then reach for a bottle: "Let's fill 'em up!" With that in mind, I think if this meeting gives the European leaders the final push needed to start working full steam ahead in the spirit of this quote: “Today, it became clear that the free world needs a new leader. It’s up to us, Europeans, to take this challenge” then it's a good thing. EU:s economy is 10 times larger than Russia's. In the long term there's no reason why EU should need to rely on the US for it's defence.

How do you think it was done in every civil war in the past? UN peacekeepers and/OR NATO peacekeepers. If they can keep a permanent garrison on the Korean border then why not along the Ukrainian border?

This isn't a civil war, one country is invading another.

Appeasment has it's place. I think Trump, Vance and Putin should try to use it when they deal with leaders from Ukraine and EU.
