Just to feed the narrative aka if it happens I said it first. Trump is going on a trip. Am I the only one thinking he may defect to another country. Say Saudi Arabia?

Most people not freaking out over Russia, thinking it's the 1950's again, just think it's better to be on as good of terms as possible with Russia. As possible. Not in love with, not united with, not married too... just to be on good terms with them as possible.

And it's like the response to that is, NOOOO! They're our enemy! They've always been our enemy! They always will be our sworn enemy! They are out to get us!

Firstly, Ezra,

... The Spanish Inquisition is a tempting idea, but I've done it before. 8)

And secondly,

... watching the Left act all scaredy-cat/triggered about Russia these days seems like the Twilight Zone or Bizarro World or Backwards Day to me. I'm old enough to remember back when I attended a liberal university, back when the atheistic, communist "evil empire" (as Reagan would say) of the Soviet Union still existed, how much the Democrats and other assorted leftist/anarchist/Marxist types that I encountered everyday were pro-Russia.

Anonymous intelligence sources report Trump owns a lavish secret compound in Saudi Arabia, with an underground tunnel that goes straight to Moscow.

Lack of fear, paranoia and hatred doesn't add up to love. It sounds more like they believe Putin is out to get us. The Russians are coming, the Russians are coming! And Trump is in collusion with them! Where's McCarthy when we need him? We need a Spanish Inquisition!

And look, people and the press are totally flipping out over something Trump did again, for the umpteenth time. And they're predicting and or calling for his impeachment again, for the umpteenth time. The constant hype and hysteria day after day, week after week, month after month.

For one thing, Putin is out to get us. He believes his nation's greatest tragedy was the fall of the Soviet Union, which he now wants to restore under greater Russia. This he wants to accomplish through steamrolling his neighbors, and taking down enemies he blames for Russia's demise - namely us and our European allies.
And another thing, it was you guys on the right who were for the most part fanatical Russophobes back in the '50s, right down to the Anti-Red persecution that had ruined the lives of millions of Americans. The American left's opposition to Putin isn't a revival of Cold War fears, but fear of a potential coming age of Strongmen, directed from the Kremlin.

Could you cite your source of that info please? In the meantime, I'd say if that's his objective, he's been moving incredibly slowly on it.

So the fear is Putin is going to revive the Soviet Union, but that's not a revival of Cold War fears? That doesn't seem to make any sense.

The Soviet Union was a communistic political entity, and the Cold War was essentially a clash between economic systems as much as it was a clash between the democratic west and the totalitarian east. Putin's attempt to wrangle in lost Soviet Republics would be a rebirth of the Russian Empire, which is hardly communist, but an oligarchic, kleptocratic thugocracy ruled over by a strongman beyond the reach of the laws of his country. While the old Soviet Union had been bent on spreading a world wide communist revolution, Putin is interested in destabilizing democratic governments with the intention of establishing strongmen in those countries who would be Putin's b*tches. Hungary, and various former Soviet Republics have already fallen to the reactionary nationalism, while Trump seems to be pointed in that direction. The totalitarian political export from Russia has no philosophy as communism had, but instead is a far right wing nationalism revolving around the leader's cult of personality.
If Putin's machinations are seemingly slow, it's only because he's up against democratic governments that have fought for their survival when it was apparent that Russian intelligence had been covertly subverting free government. The Netherlands and France have successfully resisted Putin's games, and Germany doubtlessly will, too. I'm hoping we Americans will wake up to Putin's b*tch in the White House.

I really don't mean to be offensive, but quite honestly that all comes off to me as an Alex Jones style rant.

So how are things going over in Trumptopia these days? Must be scary to have your leader the subject of a witch hunt. I hope he doesn't end up getting burned at the stake. But then I suppose he could be a martyr to your cause.

Seems probably more embarrassing for the US than scary. I agree though that it will probably end up making him look like a victim of the swamp politicians or whatever someone wants to call them. When the special prosecutor finds nothing, he'll claim it was all a plot agaist him and that it was all rigged and all that.

Trump still likes to troll and it has got him a lot of attention but that does not matter here. It's all a fake news campaign based on total fabrications at best or straight up traitors at worst who have politicized the intelligence services in this country, this hysteria over 'muh russians' is based almost completely on lies and I think there are corrupt elements in our government that don't take kindly to the prospect of the swamp being drained. This shows how much Democrats actually care about this country, not very much.

Do you really still believe he's "draining the swamp"? I found that rather naive to believe that a president who gave a important post to his son-in-law and let his family managing his financial empire is "draining the swamp". The true is that Trump is more corrupt that Obama and the Clinton have ever been.

What are we supposed to believe, if not the various media outlets? Sources like Fox and Breitbart, nationalist sources that are infamous for trying to alter reality in favor of a political/social agenda? Or our own Dear Leader, trusting in him to provide us with unvarnished truth spoken from his mouth? Those - especially that last - are the ways in which liberty is replaced by autocracy. If this was Obama in the White House, with a Russian scandal hung around his neck, I suspect you and the rest of the Putin/Trump fan club would be calling not only for impeachment, but a lynching without trial.
