This leaves Tim Scott in the Senate as the only black Republican in Congress, and Kay Granger as the only never-Trump Republican representing Texas in the House.

I was reading some of the comments on Politico's article about this, and one commenter was calling Hurd "worthless" simply for being a Republican, despite him being a centrist. The commenter was saying Hurd "wasn't really black" for not being a Democrat.

There is a world of difference between him and Steve King (R-IA), despite both being in the same party. The GOP NEEDS more never-Trumpers and Rockefeller Republicans in order to survive, but even those people are being attacked.
