People trying to annoy you working in your favour accidnetly

Stuff like this can be funny, so I wanted to know if it'd happened to anyone else here.

Here's what happened to me: there's a guy at my school who decides he hates me or is my best friend depending on the time of day (not literally, but you get the idea ), and he decided he hated me that day, so he started a rumour that I'd lost my virginity with my ex-girlfriend to try and annoy me. However, it did the complete opposite, because everyone now thought I was cool, so I just went along with it

Has anything people have done to annoy you worked out to your advantage before?

People make fun of my friends and me, but it brings us closer together and they get in trouble so we laugh at them!!

Once someone was making fun so I said "Your manifesting your problems through basic projection and aggression trying to hide your own fears of your self image." to which he replied "Your stupid". Everyone who understood what just happened laughed.

My friend Elliot's a metal-head, and after a huge gig one day, he tripped over a curb on the way home and cut his elbow open.

On the monday in school, someone who thought it wqas uncool to be a Metal-head started spreading rumors that he was an idiot who cut it open while moshing.

This just got him respect from everyone who heard it, even non-metals, cause they thought it was so freaking cool how he'd been moshing, had cut his elbow open, but still carried on as normal
I don't think he every told anyone at his school the truth
