I still sometimes feel like everyone else who is in their 30s or maybe late 20s are living independently from their parents and have their own houses, a car, and so on and I still feel like the only one living at home with one of my divorced parents. The thing is a part of me despite this, I won't leave and strongly want to rent my own place.

I can do stuff on my own, for example I had a week last week when I had the house to myself while mum and her partner were away in France. I did washing, hoovering, and making some meals at dinner time despite not been very good with cooking. I work and pay bills like everyone else but I do sometimes feel as though it's like I do "sod all" when other people do things when I can do them as well.

If that's what suits you then I'd stick with it mate. Better to have free accommodation than have to pay for it.

It sounds better than way but the thing is I do remember someone saying that sometimes in life you have to start being self sufficient. I even worry that people will be turned off by me finding out that a grown man still lives at home.

It's what the government wants everyone to do these days, so don't feel too bad. The government doesn't seem to want adults to be independent and would rather reserve housing for the rich or for those who have children.
