wrong planet not for religious people or gun owners?
The degradation of WrongPlanet.net isn't about who acted correctly and who didn't. Those who believe that they have experienced insults and hostility will simply leave WP as so many have done already. If you care about the longevity of WP, do what it takes to keep its members from abandoning it. If you enjoy seeing members leave, you are, in my opinion, part of the problem. This is particularly true about those who are described as instigators by those who leave.
If you want WP to exist for yourselves and not whither entirely, clean up your acts and help keep its members coming back day after day. As it is now, it is losing members weekly; not counting the ones who simply leave quietly.

That argument shouldn't have occurred in the Haven. The Haven has a different purpose other than arguments about religion.
People have to be cut slack in the Haven.
It's not right to call anybody a bigot without really good proof. I agree with that.
But it's not right to use rhetorical methods of argument in the Haven.
The Haven is a sanctuary for people who are depressed and having troubles.

Sly,
Let me give you some advice. You know that these issues about gun control & religion really get to you. They are causing you to be emotionally overwhelmed and, in response, you are writing in a very reactionary manner. This continues to fuel the fight or, as you see it, bullying. Then the circle goes round and round.
At a certain point, you need to take control over your exposure to this stuff. My guess is that this stuff triggers a sensory overload of sorts and you have some problems with executive function in the area of emotional control. So you need to avoid this trigger. Avoid it until you can handle it.
While these "discussions" can be quite heated and can even seem mean at points, it is not unique to WP. The same kinds of discussions happen in real life and on Facebook, too. A couple of weeks ago I had to take time off of FB because the controversy was getting to me so much. I recommend you take time off from these types of discussions too, as a measure of self care. Do not allow yourself to get into these situations where you are going to become overwhelmed and very upset and then have these emotions take over your life.
People on WP are not out to get you. But when one is sensitive to particular issues, it can feel that way.
Most of the time, these issues do not bother me because I am able to separate myself from it. I feel like I am presenting my ideas/thoughts/beliefs in the same way I might be presenting a paper. If my thoughts are attacked, it is similar to my paper being critiqued. It is not *me* getting attacked. However, at certain points or on certain days I *do* feel vulnerable. At those times, I know I need to step back and not get involved.
Practice some self-care and avoid what bothers you. This is not the same as being "censored." You are free to say whatever you want. But, you also have to understand you might get some negative feedback. If you do, and you're not ready to hear it or prepared to handle it without getting overwhelmed, it's partly your fault for getting into the fray. No one is forcing you to get into situations where you are going to feel attacked or overwhelmed.
Now, if you want to talk to people who have similar interests, PM them. The thread called "I'm a Christian Aspie" or whatever the title is, is pretty low-key. There are people on there that you might like talking to. I am not into guns myself so I haven't looked at those threads, but can you start a thread just asking "Does anyone here like guns?" You might get a few people that respond negatively, but weed through the responses and find the people who you might like to converse with.
Never do you *have* to express all your views in a public forum.

Where did I write that?
My attempted parallel was the behavior not the relative age of its particpants.
Everybody's grasping for brownie points in a debate which just shouldn't occur here in the Haven.
This reminds me of when I was in school and I was bullied. I kept on answering the bully when I should have just went my own merry way. I suffered because I kept answering the bully, thereby giving him more ammunition.
The only way a bully sustains itself as a life force is when the bullied keep on feeding the bully.
This is a totally useless debate which will resolve nothing. The bully will keep on being fed. The bullied will keep feeding the bully.
you actually started our fight. I didn't quote you until you quoted me first. I called you a bigot for thinking your belief is superior to mine and being intolerant of my belief, that is the definition.
if you'd said I believe _______, without adding in christians are wrong so wrong and stupid. really all you have to say is i don't believe in god. I'd left you alone. but no you have to refute/disprove my belief, so yeah sorry but I'm not emotionless robot and people are very emotional about their religious beliefs just a hint so you know you can't talk about beliefs and say others are wrong and not have people get emotional.
the post you respond to was me asking to be left alone. you chose not ot leave me alone instead to try to disprove my beliefs. apparently some stupid super christian politician give you the right to hurt all Christians. if you have a problem with ted cruise go take it up with him not us.
you think people who don't learn or believe in evolution education is incomplete. ie dumber then others who do ie stupid. I highly doubt any aspie christian has ever attacked a ashiest. so why even discuss it here? go to a christian site and try to disprove them go to Texas or email ted cruise the other Republicans you claim attack you and atheist. take up the issue with people you say do this things not Christians on a aspie website.
see i don't think atheist are lessor or dumber then me. as long as atheist think religious people are stupid or lessor then them this fight will keep happening.

what he was doing met the definition what other proof is needed?
he thinks his belief is superior to mine and so has not tolerance for it. that is the definition of bigoted.
this is why so many Christians don't atheists, they all think their belief in evolution and no god makes them superior to religious people. its such a horrible cocky attitude.
one that you don't have though, so its not atheism i dislike per-say but those people

my facebook is empty I don't post out of fear. i don't talk at all at work out of fear. I though wrong planet was different. I replied in the thread only because the question didn't seem to be a debate about religion but mearly a question as to why does it seem most or all aspies are atheist. which should not been a debate on religion should simple been simple answers. which is aspies are more logical and to a purely logical person atheism, the belief that science can and will explain everything seems more logical. while as believing some unseen force made everything is hardly logic based. don't see why it had to go past that or become some debate to disprove religion. I studied religion as part of humanity class in high school , none of the pastors, atheists, Jews, Muslims, that came in tried to disprove each other. they only spoke about what they believe and had utmost respect for each other. why can't everyone do this.
if I had know and I should have known, it would become another disprove religion thread I would have avoided it. honestly the gun control threads are far more civil then anti religion threads.
sorry but calling me and other Christians stupid or dumb or insane or accusing me of indoctrinating people. isn't the same as criticizing my papers though I hate that too.
not going inot that. almost every time anyone post anything about bein a christian even in another sub forum people swarm in to disprove their belief in god. I can't stand that not one bit. they have no right to do that. I do not ask them to disprove my belief in god, neither do the ops. but they feel they belief is superior and they must convert others to it.
all not gun control threads simple started to talk about guns have gun control people swarm in. its really annoying that I can't talk to dox and rapter about guns or shooting without being told how horrible guns are and that they should be banned. itd be like if I went to every video game thread and went on about how video games cause violence.
no i have to keep quite and never talk just like everywhere else in my life.
I read many views on stuff I disagree with but I don't reply because I don't feel the right to bash their hobbies/things they enjoy. I stay out of abortion debates even though I think abortions are murder, but I also think they should be able to do what they want and that they likely feel very emotional about the topic. I try not to hurt others feelings most of the time. I don't go on about how atheist attack me and other Christians except in response to them saying christians attack them. I know that both sides attack each other. they act like its only Christians who do it. I can't stand there to be falsely accused. my friend does this too, many atheist view us as subhuman. I can't stand that
Nerdygirl offers excellent advice.
I know you're upset. But you can't change people.
Just try to move on. It would be best that way for you.
I came here to try to express my feelings and get help calming down, instead they just continued it here.
I don't much like Fugu, he seems to popped out of no where in the last few weeks and is like 100% against anything I'm for. like it doesn't seem like we have anything in common or can agree on besides both having aspergers.

why can't you just leave us alone and let us believe what we want. why does everyone have to live and think like you. why must everyone be the same. we aren't clones. so tired of bigoted atheists.

^^^^^^ why did you reply and not just leave me/ us alone then? why poke a bear?

I believe in free speech for everyone. I'm religious and a gun owner. I don't mind having decent "debates" about such topics as long as name calling isn't allowed. I don't expect to change anyone else's beliefs and they won't most likely be changing mine. However, I do like to know how the other side thinks about things. One just has to know when to end a conversation if it's getting out of hand and always be respectful of the other person(s).
