Does anyone else think that the world is squalid?

I don't know if my question can be answered here.

I mean that as much as I look at the world on a normal, sane, decent Earthly scale, there is always something appalling and awful happening just below the surface.

And I'm not brave enough to reject it because nobody else wants me.

I didn't want to post this under my own UID, but God I feel depressed.

I think the world is beautiful, it's people that suck.

This planet would be far better off without the human parasites that add nothing of value to the balance of nature, but take and squander and destroy, across the globe.

I agree with this, but with the stipulation that there are even more different types of cool monkeys and primates. They are dicks but they are hilarious dicks and I'd snuggle all of them if there wasn't a significant chance I'd lose my eyeballs and genitals.

The world is full of both beauty and horror.

You can laugh, cry, go mad, or think whatever you want about that.

I prefer to laugh, even if it is a little hysterical at times.

For some, the glass is half full, for others it is half empty.

For me, the glass just is, the water just is, so might as well drink it and get some more.

I don't know much, but I do know that the world is wonderful and sucks in equal amounts, and that the best we can do is try to make it more wonderful and less sucky through our actions.*

*Individual results may vary, roads to hells may be paved with good intentions, void where prohibited.

I don't think the 'world' is at all. People can be though.

When you wake up, are there snuggle-monkeys?

No, it means you've substituted a dream for another, 'better' dream.

:nemo: told me to say that.

I totally agree with you. My feelings about the world are exactly the same and that has been the case for a very long time now.
When I try to look at myself in an objective manner I think that I am just as squalid as the rest of the world and there is not a pill in the world that can take those feelings away.

That hasn't got anything to do with depression or low self esteem I see it as a realistic way of looking at the world and yourself. To me it's just a form of common sense that is stripped from delusions. When you see yourself for what you really are and the rest of the world for what it really is there may be a small change of improvement allthough that is not an easy task. When you are convinced you're a great person with just a few minor flaws you are fooling yourself. When you think that you are living in a wonderful world you willfully close your eyes to everything that really goes on. I am not completely blind to the positive aspects that are there as well but I can assure that the bad still outshadows the good.

The problem of the western world with all it's fysical and mental healthcare, overmedication and therapists is that people who think a little differently are easily seen and treated as sick, depressed or at least as deviant. That is not meant as a form of criticism on the west because in many ways I see myself as lucky because of the fact that I live here but there are some downsides as well.

I'll take a cuddle-monkey-dream-monkey over a no-cuddle, no-monkey not-monkey-dream.

Your post makes logically more sense than Pokerfaces does (goedenavond!), in my opinion.

Even though this is the haven, I have to respectfully call this folly of the highest order. This is what intelligent well-meaning people tell themselves to convince themselves feeling a certain way is justified. It's just a different set of delusions, and it's the wrong way round.

When you see yourself for what you really are (which you probably haven't quite yet), the world will diminish and almost disappear, and you will realise that you pretty much project everything outwards, and then your eyes will truly open and you will realise this world that you are categorising - you are the one who gave it a meaning in the first place. Where is the evidence that the world that you create should be taken so seriously? There is none, and there never has been.

Any disappointment of the 'way it is' is a residue attachment to the dream. It's like a child wanting their own way. It's by the by, in the reality (that you are avoiding seeing by seeking to judge the world).

Don't believe me? Suck it and see. The truth shall set you free, if you dare to see it.

...and you've just read it, and just ignored it. Another opportunity lost? :D

I love monkies, They are adorable creatures and much smarter and wiser than the average human being. Therefore I take it as a compliment when someone calls me one because of the color of my skin. It beats being human by far!

Monkeys are hilarious and I want their cuddles and smiles and I also want a sea otter to give me a smooch and I want to wear several baby sloths instead of a shirt and I want all the squirrels to know I love them and I want every silly puppy and every fuzzy bunny to have my silly funny cuddles!

I think I'm going to contact an alligator or a tiger and ask them if they would be friendly enough to give you a loooooong and intense cuddle.

Just kidding, don't take it seriously.
And I'm not going to kill you because I have nothing against you, so stop asking us questions like that. You deserve a good life just like anyone else.

Uh cuddles from sugarbears are awesome. And I say this while cutting myself, so I know what I'm talking about.
