NT people being a**holes at school

I get so tired of NT people at school being a**holes to me because they misinterpret my words, take them out of context, get the wrong meaning from what I say. There is no point arguing with them, because they never get the f*****g message, or stop to think about what I may actually be saying. This is partly why I am so introverted at school and can't make friends there. People won't try and meet me half way on anything, they are too stuck up and self-righteous to consider that maybe they are wrong, or that my words have been misunderstood.

A couple people in a class I am finishing this week were calling me "loser" "tool" "a**hole" etc because I didn't give them the response they wanted to a question about the exam. I then explained that I didn't know what was going to be on it, and the insults continued. Sometimes I wish I could just go up to these people and beat the living f**k out of them. Unfortunately, I am an adult, and thus would go to jail (and they still wouldn't realize their error). I can't wait until I am done this class, and hopefully will never see or hear from these idiots again.

The biggest problem with NTs is that they are interchangeable. It won't be the same guys, but it will be their mirror image of those guys at your next class, or at work, or on the bus or what ever. They are every where and they surround their selves with their selves.

and the mere fact that they are interchangeable is what makes them think they can insult and demean YOU because you are so obviously NOT interchangeable.

I think the problem you're describing arises from the fact that these people are in a group when talking with you. People can't think clearly when they consider themselves part of a group. If you restrict yourself to 1-on-1 interactions only, you will find reason much more often in whomever you're talking with, and you'll also be more likely to make friends.

The incident I referred to was on our class message board. Someone misunderstood my answer, and then I got attacked and sworn by 2 people, one who posted more messages. I explained my original message, and I got attacked even more, and insulted further. I decided it wasn't worth responding again, so I came here.

It's odd, because I always deliberately misunderstand what
people say. It's one of the few fun things that I can do with people
anymore.

I think sometimes we get so misunderstood that we go to great lengths to explain what we 'really' meant, but apparently that is not valued...

I was once told the more I tried to explain my reasoning, the more defensive I seemed.

Don't know what the particular instance was, but generally, if they misunderstood... and they mean nothing to you...screw 'em.

Having learned their pleasantries and nuances in "small talk," often doesn't help. Most people are bastards.

Strange as it may sound, you were probably attacked because your answer was a good one. People in groups aren't interested in solutions to problems, they're interested in their position within the group. They'll interpret pretty much anything anyone else does or says (such as your answer) as attempts to acquire higher positions within the group, hence as possibly threatening to their own positions. We Aspies should simply stay away from this game, because there's nothing in the process of it that we enjoy and/or value, and we don't give a hoot about the possible "reward" (being the "alpha dog").
In the case of the message board, if you see a problem that you know a solution for, then maybe you can identify the person who brought up the problem, and contact that person individually.

Usually a witty and nasty comment can neutralize this type of NT behavior. It must be sufficiently witty so that they must think about it to be able to realize they have been insulted - by the time the thought is processed, too much time has elapsed for a decent comback. This causes the NT to "loose face", as they say, and give up trying to insult you.

For example, Monday I went to the car audio shop to have an input cable for my iPod put in. The following morning I went to use my iPod with this cable, and it didn't work. Tuesday I returned, and the shop was really busy. They said that I had to wait for them to get done with 4 cars before they would look at mine. I told them that I waited yesterday for the job to be done correctly, and that I feel I should now be accommodated by having them look at the installation immediately instead of placing me at the back of the line. The guy said that's what I have to live with if I go to a shop that operates on a walk-in basis. Here's my comeback to that:

"If I were to publish a website today and get a bug report tomorrow, should I wait until I produce and publish 4 more websites before I read the bug report? Or should I immediately address the bug report to keep the person whose website I screwed up happy? What makes better business sense?"

The guy stared at me for a few seconds and said "Let me get my manager." I was on the road 10 minutes later

So, basically, I wasn't going to let some NT-to-the-hilt 18yr old kid bully me on the matter. Instead of trying to bully him back, I outwitted him. Very simple.

I got a witty comment when the roll was called at school on Monday which I got from WP:

"John?"
"Here"
"Tim?"
"Microsoft Works is an oxymoron."

My dad usually does that too, he "out-smarts" them, then they don`t know what too do and then agrees too what you`re saying too not make a bigger fool of them selves.
