Ever met/encountered anybody famous?

No. I have yet to encounter any famous bodies.

Alter Wiener, who's a Holocaust survivor. That's about it.

As a teen, I met the guys from Alice in Chains.

That's kewl. I could of met the band Better Than Ezra as a teen; one of the guys my dad knew from work's wife did taxes for them; I'm not a big fan of their music & I was a lot shyer then.

I thought it was spiffy. Funny thing though is I did not know it was them until after they left. Hahahaha! I just thought they were some random guys. I did not know what they looked like. Love their music though, I should have known who they were.

I remember Better Than Ezra... they had one song this guy Matt used to play all the time. I'm with you... I was never a huge fan of them either.

I've met Marcus Borg, a theologian and author of numerous books. I met him at a seminar I was invited to go to by a friend because I had liked the book he wrote that she had loaned me. While I was at the seminar, a woman sitting next to me began talking to me saying how she was going to buy one of his new books, and I must have mentioned that I didn't have any of his books, cause she just handed me her old copy, out of the generosity of her heart. I was amazed. Well, having that book in hand, I went to get it signed by the author. We shook hands and I asked him if he would write a poem down for me but he said that it was too long, that I could find it in one of his books. Not having any money, I searched for the poem in the book he mentioned and copied it for myself. I have to say that he really wasn't that friendly, but I still admire his work.

I've also met Kathy Troccoli, a contemporary Christian singer and author. I think it was called a conference but I'm not sure. She talked about her relationship with a friend and with God and she did some singing, but I sat outside of the room when she was doing that so I didn't hear much of it. The volume on her mic was too loud. I got a headache being in there, so I couldn't stay. Anyway, I bought one of her books because I actually had money this time, and I finally found the courage to ask her to sign it. I had written a note wondering if she could offer me a bit of encouragement, but instead of reading it, she assumed the note was about her and put it away, saying thank you. She signed my book and I ran away. I had a lovely meltdown because I faced my fears and got nothing for it except for the signature of some woman I had never heard of. I ran away from the building and cried behind a tree, but I thought people might notice me so I walked away from the conference center altogether. I did make it back eventually. Never saw her again, though, didn't really care at that point. I just needed to catch my ride home.

i literally bumped into ted turner in 1985, on a flight out of atlanta GA to washington DC. i saw the late james doohan at a miniature star trek convention at tacoma general hospital in 1984. his sister diedre lived in tacoma at that time so he visited her and also local hospitals whenever he could. he visited with my late father in madigan army medical center back in the 80s also. my dad said at the time, that he [mr. doohan] was a "red-faced drunk" - i suppose it takes one to know one, as dad was also fond of the sauce. as a child i met brakeman bill [bill mcclane, a local celebrity] at a school assembly.

I delivered to a porn star that I recognized once. Let's just say that was awkward...

I recorded a band demo produced by Don Dokken, met his drummer Mick Brown (though I wanted to meet George Lynch, he had just bailed again). Also there was the original guitarists from Great White (YEARS before they burned down the nightclub). Interrupted Pennywise's rehearsal to retrieve a cymbal stand once.

Jared Hess (director) and his wife came to the shop I worked at and bought 2 mopeds. The next week he brought Aaron Ruell (who played Napoleon Dynamite's brother) who bought a moped. The week after that he presented me with my very own Napoleon Dynamite talking figure. A few other machines I worked on have appeared in movies and TV

These days I just know people who know people

I work in the same lab as Bjarne Stroustrup, the inventor of C++!

Admittedly, I haven't spoken to him personally. He's gone all the time, but I walk by his office daily.

Erm, Kevin Bloody Wilson (comedy musician)? That's about the most famous I've ever met . I guess being 50m away from famous people onstage doesn't count.

Once at an open-air rock concert featuring lots of different bands, my mate gave me a nudge and said "Look who's in front of us". It was Brian May from Queen with a couple of very large men standing each side of him, presumably there to protect him / babysit him. He stood there for a while talking in a low, slurred voice. I think he must have been wasted on drugs at the time. Then they ambled off back stage again.

When I used to be cycling home in a mornings after my night shift I reckon I saw Roy Cropper off Coronation Street jogging round Castlefield.
