^ in total agreement with most of the posters and of course OP. . .I joined Facebook in 2007. . .on the recommendation from an old friend. . .I deactivated my account in January 2016. . .never looked back since. . .few reasons for me ditching the site. . .

- Facebook has changed TOO much in 9 years. . .too much changes for me. . .
- Facebook has become flooded with ADs. . .it's terrible. . .
- People use Facebook to vent random rubbish. . .and post inappropriate things. . .
- When people used to delete me as a friend on FB, it triggered me. . .like "why did they delete me?"
- I believe Facebook to be dangerous. . .it's known that FB can be damaging and a security risk IRL. . .that new FB Live thing is proof of how dangerous it can be. . .

Too many cons and besides, I love the old style forums like this place. . .

I read the other day that no one uses Facebook anymore. The OP may have been just joking or really sarcastic because they're *on* Facebook. No one replies to my posts or even gives them likes anymore. :(

But then again, I've blocked out just about everything on Facebook, and I haven't answered any "friend" requests in forever.

^ these are signs that maybe Facebook isn't useful to you anymore. . .it's not uncommon for people to jump ship from there these days. . .

Don't get disheartened by lack of replies / posts. . .I feel like FB is conditioning people to want likes and replies. . .the real likes are at WP! ! !

I like being able to keep in touch with people abroad through facebook, but recently I've gotten very tired of it. There's too much junk.

Also, I'm mystified by the strange compliments. Recently it seems nobody can post a new profile picture without receiving a lot of strangely worded compliments. I changed my picture mainly because I didn't look like the old one anymore, and then random people started complimenting me. I am supposed to care whether they think I look pretty?

My aunt's a terrible menace on that site, I just made sure to unfollow her posts, etc... but it does show you a different side nonetheless. My older sister is also a little annoying for me on there as she seems to recently have taken to posting cat videos up on my page which I'm actually not ok with. :D

You can change your settings to not allow others to post on your timeline. Instead it will be a post that only you and they can see and you will be given the option to post it to your timeline.

I don't mind facebook. I like it when my extended family share photos. They don't write many status updates, it's mainly photos.

I like reading little observations people write. I wish people would actually participate more.

My friends don't get too incencesed about things, there are few rants and few shares of fake news. I hate the abused pet stories though. And don't try and sell me makeup or tupperware, I will block you. I would honestly prefer it if you just emailed and asked for £20 to tide you over. I don't want any of this overpriced rubbish.

I just had a look down my wall and I do get a bit of participation. People ignore funny videos, or just don't comment, not sure which. I will keep posting them though. I live alone and I just want to share funny things that make me laugh. My comments on life the universe and everything do get responses and so do my photos. Not millions, just one or two and I have aunts who say they follow me, but don't know what to write, so just follow silently (like stalker aunts... stealth aunts)

I follow a few groups too who post interesting things.

I just ignore the adverts.

There's one woman who keeps posting half-dressed men on my wall. I delete those pictures, because I'm not interested in beefcakes.
