I think part is how the media glamorizes them...
another part is that sometimes people don't have anyone in their lives that they can look up to as a role model, who they can aspire to be, who they can take certain traits from and apply to themselves to become a better person.
another part is respect for those that are successful and contribute to society in a way that brings about change, whether it be bringing awareness to global hunger or educating others about animal abuse. Celebrities have a lot of power...I'm not sure why, but people seem to listen to them more than maybe people who should be heard more.
Obsessions with celebrities are ridiculous, I think, but admiring them for what they do isn't.
I agree,
I can understand why people would be obsessed with what they do, I want to make the money they do too. But people are so obsessed with celebrities themselves. By that, I mean their personal lives. I don't give a crap what they do. Yet there are all these news shows that go on about what this celebrity is doing and so forth. Why should the things that celebrities do with their lives matter to anyone else?
