Do you think 'society' tries to push people to be alcoholic?

No, you only think that when you are drunk. You think you are being smooth but to other people you are slurring and not making sense. I've been around lots of drunk people who think they are "more social" when they've been drinking when really they are just less aware of how much they are bothering the people around them because they are too drunk to pick up on it. Your brain lies to you when you're drunk, and you don't remember accurately afterwards how people react to you in the moment. Alcohol is brain poison that makes you think stuff that isn't true and makes you act like a jerk and think it's acceptable. I hate alcohol and I don't like being around people who consume it in large quantities because they tend to be the type who use alcohol to give them license to do all the sh***y things they want to do but feel like they can't when they are sober, that their better judgement tells them is wrong when they are sober, like hurt other people. People abuse others and drive drunk because of this property of alcohol, it makes drunks think everything is permitted.

I was referring to writing capabilities, though... currently e.g. I'm so drunk if I was more than this I'd vomit, and yet it's indistinguishable, isn't it? I don't talk vocally much, so I can't do much testing in that field, but I think it works in a somewhat similar manner to entactogens which seem to bypass some sort of inhibition (also antipsychotics, but those bypass it in some insane manner, like a truck that wants to bash everything).

I don't deny it's poison, though... I always hated the fact it's perfectly acceptable in society, despite better substances not being so... but personally I don't think I end up being a 'jerk' at all... I think, like most substances, it enhances already natural qualities... I have two cats and I think I treat them even better when drunk simply because their fur seems absolutely heavenly to feel, hah... but no, I don't drive anyway, and I'd never do in any altered state, it's nerve-wreaking enough to be driven by others to begin with...

 Yeah yeah, just like every drunk ever you think it makes you better and no one else can tell when you are drunk. Heard it all before, all drunks think this.

I'm going to stop posting in this thread, I just can't stand alcoholics and people who try to justify alcoholism. It's best if I don't even try to interact. I shouldn't have posted in here in the the first place, knowing so many would likely post supporting alcoholism on such a topic. There are always at least a few in any crowd.

The majority of violent crimes, sexual assaults and unwanted pregnancies are the result of being drunk. But no, it's our weight that's the REAL problem, and that's why it's perfectly okay to get hammered but if you eat a doughnut you're a horrible disgusting fat pig and you deserve the heart attack you will surely get (sarcasm).

I don't drink alcohol and I'm not pressured into drinking, but heaven forbid I put any food into my body that isn't salad. I'm constantly hearing the voices telling me over and over, "how can you eat that, it's disgusting, it tastes like garbage, it'll make you sick, you'll instantly gain 30 pounds, it gives you cancer, it makes children autistic, it's made with aborted human fetuses, your innards will rot and you'll become a mutant, become an anorexic food is the enemy, you say you'll starve to death if you don't eat? Ha ha it would take you a year before you even start to get close to dying of starvation, you're so fat and ugly no wonder you have so many problems, hope you choke on it, you disgusting fat pig"

:wall:

I don't think I've read anything so stupidly over the top.

I'm getting to the point where I can't be bothered with the insanity and bitterness of this forum anymore

I had an interesting conversation today with a man who was telling some students about his experiences with University.

Guy: Do any of you drink? I hear that your generation of students don't go out drinking that much.

Student #1: No, for cultural reasons.

#2 Student: I don't drink either.

Me: On occasion, but not very often. Sometimes I go out with friends to the pub, but not everyone gets alcohol. One time I just got a hot chocolate on a night out and no one batted an eye.

Guy: 8O It's definitely a generational thing.

Are students less interested in drinking these days? I have heard people call my age group the sensible generation before. Perhaps inflation is a main factor? University is expensive after all. I do know some students who go binge drinking, but I also know plenty who would rather not. Add on the fact that if you do something stupid on a night out, it's likely to end up on social media and it might harm your chances of getting employed...so that's probably a deterrent as well.

That's often a problem these days. It can feel as if no one has any privacy anymore. Our data is owned by social media companies, we can't goof off without the worry of someone recording it, and with our lives constantly on display it can feel as if our personal life becomes a part of a pitch towards employers. Celebrities become brands, and designers often have to create a brand image for themselves as well.

We sell a presentable version of ourselves rather than just our achievements...

An ordinary beer is about a thousand times more toxic than any vaccine, and yet it's the life-saving vaccines the AV idiots want banned because of all the horrible toxic substances they *think* are in it, if they can think at all. :x

I for myself like that alcohol makes less introverted and reserved. Because of this society pushes people a bit to it. But for being less introverted and reserved it doesn't requires much and to much causes more problems than it's worth. People could be less introverted and reserved without it too of course. But most don't dare to break some minor social rules then. Rules like not bothering others - even that most people wouldn't feel bothered if talking to them - and not doing any strange things - even that most people rather like somebody who does then being bored by people who don't dare anything. I think a bit alcohol once you are with others is OK. To much alcohol or being totally drunken isn't.
