Hires highlightable maps of the world?

Is there anywhere on the web where I can use a large-scale map of the world, or one that I could tick countries which would then be highlighted that I could save and use later? Or maybe of seperate continents?

I've found a map of Europe and put crosses next to all the countries I'd like to visit, but preferably I'd like it more professional.

Any ideas? I'm probably not making a great deal of sense here.
