Do you ever experience meeting someone who looks JUST THE SAME as someone else you met few years ago, although you know it is completely different person? I had few such:

IDENTICAL LOOKS:

1) The son of a chemistry teacher I had in high school is the same as a guy I met at the tour to Israel, and both of them are the same as one guy at the Adventist club I went to in graduate school

2) A certain guy I saw in a TV for children back when i was 12 in Russia is the same as a certain guy that helped an English teacher I had the last year of high school. Now, right now in India I met a guy in a church, and he is the same as both of them, except for darker skin color.

3) A guy at one of the caffees I am studying at right now looks the same as a TA for an english class I took in college few years ago.

DIFFERENT LOOKS BUT IDENTICAL VOICES:

1) One of the physics professors I had in community college had the same voice as one of the very good chellow players that is a close friend of my mom's

2) One girl I recently met on a dating site has the same voice as my dentist -- especially when both of them are making jokes they sound just the same.

These occurences are quite rare -- in fact the three things I just listed are the only ones I remember. But it is quite amaizing.

One interesting thing is that whenever I experience such, not only the ppl look the same but they also have the same personality, too. Although the latter might just be subjective since thats what I expect. Anyway, can you guys relate to that?

This reminds me of the experiments carried out in 2006 by Shahar Arzy at the University Hospital, Geneva, on the effects of using electromagnetic stimulation on a patient's brain. They applied focal electrical stimulation to a patient's left temporoparietal junction which resulted in the patient imagining the presence of another 'person' or 'persons' in their "extrapersonal space." The other 'person' or 'persons' looked either identical to the patient themselves or someone they knew. The findings of the experiment concluded that some reports of doppelgängers may well be due to failure of the left temporoparietal junction.

Once in 2000, when I was on a summer camp I met there a girl who was almost identical to another girl with whom I was in the same class - I seriously thought it was my classmate.

A couple of years ago I also used to know some lady who looked very like my art teacher from elementary school; they both even had also, as far as I was able to judge it, very similar voices. The only difference was that the teacher used to cut her hair short while as for the hairstyle of this other woman, she had long, bushy, wavy hair.

i've had that happen, and for some reason, my own looks trigger this response in others *a lot.* anyway, i've thought about it for awhile (like a couple years, lol) and finally, my conclusion was that basically, there's a range of variation in features, and a limited number of said features, so sure, there will be repeats of combinations, more or less. i mean, how many possible kinds of eyes? all are round or oval. no square, triangle, etc. all mouths: two lips covering teeth.

variations: width, color, placement (all eyes are placed above the nose, just under the forehead, tho, all mouths below nose and above chin, etc). and for something to stay roughly in a circle shape, the possibilities aren't infinite. ditto lip possibilities.

and so on.

When I was on Xbox Live yesterday, some kid sounded exactly like Edward Furlong from the days of Terminator 2. So much that I almost had to remind myself that I wasn't playing Modern Warfare 2 with John Connor and that there wasn't gonna be a Arnold T-800 popping out of nowhere and shooting a grenade launcher at me.

I'm not sure if that counts, but Chris from the cartoon "Total Drama Island" looks really very like my Polish literature teacher in my high school and some healer, with whom I had to do due to my health problems, looked very like the professor from General Daimos (without such a long beard) :)

Once I went into a pub I'd never been into in my life and one of the men sitting at the bar called me by a different name and asked how I was and how long I'd had a motorbike. Then the barman asked me if I wanted my usual drink. 8O Never found out who my clone was.

Haven't had anything like that happen, but I've had people SWEAR we had met before. Every time it was someone I had just met, and they start looking at me funny, then say that.

Offhand, I thought I have a pretty unique voice since I tend be be nasal, but somewhere out there I've got (or had) a doppelgänger.

Once a girl from my class (it took place when I could be about 10-11) asked me when she met me on our way to school, if it was me whom she had seen the day before, when she was in the woods with her family - she said she smiled to me then but I didn't smile back - of course "I" didn't do this, for this simple reason it wasn't me :)
