Facebook

  • Lots of posts about a topic I am not interested in. It appears you can no longer hide all posts from pages friends keep sharing from if that friend is on a list you check through regularly from your sidebar. :(
On my part, I have lists of friends who like Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings/Hobbit, Hunger Games and so on. So every time I post something about Harry Potter, I restrict it to the Harry Potter list so I won't spam and annoy the rest of my friend list.
  • Game posts and requests. I don't send game requests to people who are not already playing that particular game. If I am trying to recruit more friends to help me, I invite only the people who I think might be interested.
  • Self-entitled posts
  • A zillion photos in a vacation album. Unless I am Tomnod doing a challenge or looking at retailers' websites, I will not sit down and scroll through many photos on the same topic. If I am uploading vacation photos I pick the nicest photos to share.

Tumblr
  • Posts with unrelated tags. Especially a web series trying to publicise itself by tagging names of other web series. I ignore users who do that immediately. (Interestingly, I found out about an upcoming web series through one of those tags - but I did not check out the web series that did the tagging!)
  • Posts that are continued in tags.

Pinterest
  • Reposts of a witty comment without acknowledging that it wasn't written by the repinner.

Anything else? I think this might be helpful for some of us to watch out for.

Seeing "follow this account for more FREE followers!! ! :DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD" and stuff on Twitter. I can't see those now because apparently our prime minister shut it down, for some odd reason.

Facebook:

1. "like if you love god ignore if you worship satan" posts. Uh, okay?
2. Indirect and toxic posts about certain people. Seems a little bit too douchey for my tastes.
3. "truth is" and other stupid facebook wall games

Tumblr:

1. those activism posts with a bunch of crazy and wild replies
2. the occasional untagged gay porn (I really hate it when someone I follow doesn't tag their nsfw stuff)
3. giveaway posts (especially if they're fake)

Anything about bad news, for one. Any biased news I will block as well.

photos of animal torture/death,it comes with the territory of belonging to animal equality, animal rights and animal liberation front groups but thankfuly have got an image blocker button which easily turns them all off so dont have to see them, dont have an issue with seeing the same situation when humans are involved but anything involving animals and will go mental.

facebook:

Chain posts telling me to re-post. (usually with religion or false info in it)

Certain people flooding posts with their political or religious views.

Posts with close-up pictures of what they are eating. I don't care what you are having and many of those gross me out.

I don't have a tumblr account but I do have a facebook account.

I get tired of seeing the "I love God" posts... as if you are the only one??

I get tired of seeing the posts about race inequality... I know this is an important topic and occasionally they are interesting and informing, however, most of them are not.

I get tired of posts about sexual inequality... again, this an important topic and posts can be interesting and informative but at the same time, I don't give a rat's ass who or what you do in your bedroom.

I get tired of people who post one or two words (like "ughh" or "had enough") and don't elaborate. You want attention and apparently getting people worried about you is the only way for you to get it.

I also get tired of people who post the same things over and over. Example someone I know is having a benefit for someone else over the weekend and they have been posting the information for the last week. Yes, you are a good person for doing what you are doing and I'm sorry this other person is sick, but posting this information more than say, once a day, is just ridiculous

Adding on from my original post:

Facebook/Sina microblog (similar to Twitter): People replying a post by tagging a friend they want to show a post to. It's a waste of time to go into comments and see lots of names instead of actual comments. :( That's what the private messaging function is for, not the tag function!

And this leads me to:
People wanting to show their friends a Facebook photo they are not in by tagging them in the photo. (See my comments above.) Or spammers doing the same thing.

This person who has a fair share of run-ins with evangelists agrees whole-heartedly.

The only social media site I used was MySpace but for what it's worth my pick will be stupid status update messages no one but the poster cares about. Why do they think others care that their waiting in line or what they had for lunch :?

This was mentioned by an NT person on Tumblr:

People posting #prayforMH370 posts with a selfie, because they could make their point without a selfie.

The main reason I closed my FB account was all the rubbish that kept appearing on my wall from people who I didn't really know. Social media feeds are just unwanted "noise".

I don't like seeing my friends posts "news" stories that are either debunked myths or from sites like the Onion.

"I wonder if anyone would miss me if I was gone"

GTFO WITH YOUR WOE IS ME DRIVEL!

People who moan about petty things.

Cancer awareness selfies, with no intention of donating to a charity, or willing to raise awareness for other charities and causes when it comes around to it.

Baby pictures.

People asking questions to their friends in a status and tagging them. Why not just message them? We get it, you have friends, you have a busy life going out for dinner tonight at 8pm and you know it's 8pm but you pretend to check anyway.

Frozen posts. Sick of this "LET IT GO, LET IT GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" Never watched the movie and have no interest.

Anything related to The Hunger Games, or Game of Thrones, or Breaking Bad, or whatever else is overly popular these days.

Those who complain they're ignored by friends/have no friends, but then you try to get to know them and be their friend, and they're not interested. Hell, it's your fault you have no friends for being so picky.

Facebook games "Steven has earned _____ points in ________"

Facebook is so irritating. I'm only on there because nobody wants to text me to keep in contact.

Young people posting pictures of their night out at the bar, the girls all dressed up to the nines, wearing so much make-up that they look like some sort of clown, and wearing false nails and what have you. And cute guys kissing them and having their arms round them, even though they are not their actual boyfriends.

People putting depressed, miserable posts saying ''so lonely, somebody date me'', then as soon as they get an inkling of a man/woman liking them they're all ''I'M SO HAPPY I LOVE LIFE!! !'' and then after that you hear nothing but ''I love my lovely boy/girlfriend so much I will always be there for you xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx''. And then like 2 months later they are alone and miserable again, and the cycle starts all over again.

Seeing holiday photos amuses me, unless it's just pictures of being all dressed up in some sort of bar, what's no different to the bar they drink themselves stupid at in their local town.

Seeing pictures of people's kids also amuses me. I like to see happy families. It's something worth looking at.

There's this one guy on another person's friendlist who constantly posts inane conspiracy theories about the most trivial of events. Example: the movie "Veronica Mars" not being shown in New York solely because of stop & frisk policies.

This same person also makes long, drawn out posts about how most women are corrupt gold-diggers and he's been hurt by them all the time, and it all started with his "cheating ex" who he claims cheated on him.....7 years ago.
