Afterall, they say goody two shoes.

Maybe it's something a peg leg pirate called people.

When people were so poor that they couldn't afford one shoe, let alone two, it really was a good thing to have a pair.

So they would say, "Goody! Two shoes!"

That's my theory and I'm sticking to it.

Sometimes when I'm here, I have this feeling like I'm missing a shoe. A rebel's life is an interesting life.

Well...a "goody two shoes" isn't necessarily a "good" person. They are a person who conforms to authority. And puts on show of being "good" to please the big people.

Why "two shoes" I don't know. Maybe keeping your shoes polished all of the time is a trait of folks who are goody two shoes-es.

when i was a kid, if i put my shoes on the wrong way round, i would stand cross-legged rather than take my shoes off and put them on correctly

Sorry, the subject of shoes just reminded me of that.

"Don't drink don't smoke, what do you do?"

That was basically the whole song "Goody Two Shoes" by Adam Ant in 1982. I don't drink or smoke, so if that makes me a goody two shoes, then I find myself guilty as charged.
