I'm NLD and intensely verbally-focused. I do not think in pictures readily - mostly words and sounds with some vague images, as someone else described. As far as how I daydream, I do so constantly. It's just probably not as visual or image-based as it is for many people.
Some above have tried to draw a dichotomy between Asperger's/autism and NLD. That is actually a pretty messy topic. The first psychologist who evaluated me thought I was NLD but not ASD. I later learned that some people think that NLD is a subset or variation of ASD, and that others think that while it's possible to be NLD and not ASD, it is certainly possible and indeed common to have characteristics of both, as I do. I was, in fact, later diagnosed with ASD.
I think the thing with autism is that it often manifests itself in extremes. Some people are intensely visual thinkers. I am not. NLD brings with it its own set of communication problems, incidentally.
