i can't believe some of the things i hear autistic individuals allegedly cannot or do not do.

I dream a lot. I find that the closer I eat to bedtime the more I dream, and there are certain foods that trigger lucid dreams in me, especially herbal teas, dark juices and soya milk.

My dreams usually include recent events, throwing in a few blasts from the past to make it interesting. I have had just about every dream mentioned. When I eat just before bed I am more inclined to have nightmares, generally based on my phobias, being struck by lightning is a recurring one. When I was a child my dad told me that my grandfather's brother was struck by lightning while riding a pushbike, so I can see where I got that one from.

The article that said that autistic people don't dream was from 1998 and I can't find it anymore. It was also super hard to understand, so I may have missed something.

I was just wondering if people with AS dream differently, because we interact differently. I was mostly wondering autistic people dreamed of their special interest.

What you say makes sense though.

I do tend to dream of my fears, when I was little, I used to be really afraid of the cat coming into my room at night and I would dream about it.

I might have misread the article (it written in "doctor speak"). I don't believe it personally. Also, there were only 8 people in the study.

Well I've often discussed dreams with NTs, and their dreams have the same sort of ''lay out'' as my dreams. My mum often says what she's dreamt of, and although every dream is different to the next, I felt I could easily picture in my mind her description of her dream as she told it, because I have similar dreams. Like I often have dreams where I'm walking miles away from home in the middle of nowhere, only to realise I'm carrying my cat, then I'm panicking that she might jump out of my arms and run away, and when I told my mum about it, she said she sometimes dreams about carrying the cat miles away from home too.

There's no such thing as a ''normal dream'', because everybody's dreams are weird. Dreams are a mixture of what we experience during the day, even if we dream about something what has happened a few days, weeks, months or even years ago. I still dream about being back at secondary school - and so does my mum!

I had a weird dream last night.

I was driving on a four lane highway with a median, and then I slow down to make a left turn. For some reason I was attempting to do this in the right lane. As I check to make sure it's clear, I see two boys in the road yelling at each other. I stop and wait for them to get out of the way. Next thing I know one of them starts throwing rocks at the other. The first two rocks didn't hurt the guy, but the third hit him in the face and he fell down with a crunchy sound. The other boy continued to throw rocks at him and would not stop. My mom got out of the car and tried to help him. At that point, I thought, screw this. I drove up to the guy throwing rocks and he wouldn't move so I ran him over. Then I felt guilty and woke up.

So that's how my dreams usually are. Almost always illogical and completely irrelevant to everything.

I just recently started a Dream Journal, I'm pretty angry at myself for not doing it sooner in my Life, but I started it now..

All of the Dreams I have recorded so far are usually things I do everyday, Or situations that could occur in every day life.

Last night's dream I had a False Awakening, I "woke up" and recorded my Real Dream, which was a Dream I had of Falling Asleep, Basically a dream within a dream, sent my mind for a loop when I woke up for real, Hahaha.

I recommend a Dream Journal to anyone.

I also have a Dream Journal, and need to stop neglecting it. And yes, dreams within dreams can be some real mindbenders, haha.

I get those all the time, and apparently most people get those sorts of dreams. That dream will probably come true in real life when I get Alzheimer's!

Some nights It's almost like I skip through the entire night, others i have dreams that are so long and highly detailed I completely escape my sense of reality and am fully synchronized with the dream. When it's a good dream I wake up and have a feeling like, this can't be right, this can't be my actual life...and I just want to go back into that dream. Sometimes, I can go back into the same dream. Sometimes, it's years later, others, the next time I sleep.

I was dreaming last night that my friend's son was a teenage student and working in a fast-food restaurant. His face was very clear; it was definitely him but about 12 years older than he is just now. I don't think I could imagine how a child would look when they were older, if I tried to do this consciously.

A lot of my dreams consist of me trying to run somewhere but I can't run or I'm running in slow motion, one time I just gave up and jumped off of a pier/boardwalk into the water and woke up lol. I've had false awakenings too. Most of the time I just have random dreams with some unusual circumstance that would be very unlikely or impossible in real life, but I can never remember them once I've been awake for more that a minute or two Then there's the ones where I can't talk, and those where I am driving a car underwater... I'm gonna stop now. Lol

I am intrigued as I was just thinking about if having Aspergers could make my dreams different yesterday. I was thinking about how my best friend found my dreams to be very different from hers, since I was always dreaming about something more real. Like when I get stressed, I am back in high school taking a test, typing a paper last minute, lost in a building, scared of an ocean wave, or something like that. even if the building is unusual in my dream, I often return to the same settings in many dreams. I actually was naked in my dream the other night but it was not a source of embarrassment, but rather (I felt) symbolic of me being open and honest with others about my feelings, or something like that. I am not sure at all if the differences that arise between my dreams and those of other people I know have to do with AS or more with just different personalities, etc.
