Why do some Aspies expect the world to cater to them?

Yes they do, but..............your point is?

Well the OP seemed to be asserting that people should let go of all the high school crap because it goes away after high school, or at least that's what I got from it. I'm saying, it's not like people suddenly turn into mature, well adjusted adults that are above all the high school crap. They just age. The weird games seem to just transfer into adult hood.

But the OP was all over the place with his ideas, so I'm not sure if I even understood the original point.

Hey, there are more strategies than just becoming a predator yourself. A tortoise has a thick shell; a porcupine has quills; a skunk sprays some seriously bad-smelling stuff on anyone that tries to attack it. There are animals which use camouflage to blend into the scenery. Some live in groups and protect each other from predators. And some developed big brains and outsmarted their predators. It's not "eat or be eaten"... it's "survive in whichever way you can".

Me--I'm a tortoise. If anybody bugs me, I just ignore them and become a very boring and unappetizing rock. Sure, they might toss me around for a while, but I can pretty much survive anything now that I've had so much practice. I may also lecture their head off, if they annoy me enough. The Aspie lecture can be used as a weapon, if one uses it properly. :)

Hey, I once had the same thought! It's like, not everything in nature that doesn't have sharp teeth and bloody claws is a victim. Look at a mountain ram with the those huge horns. They aren't carnivores but that doesn't mean they're defenseless.

I do that. It's effective as long as you don't want to or don't need to develop a relationship with that person. It doesn't work very well when you're in the occasional marital spat and your wife or husband is used to taking a confrontational approach. Then you have to learn how to open up and deal with things for the first time in your life.

I've tried to play the NT game, and I did pretty well at it... except that I accumulated stress and eventually just broke down, culminating in hospitalization. I don't recommend this approach for anybody but those with very mild cases of ASD--and even then, it is a bad idea to try to ignore it when things are difficult or exhausting for you. You need to pay attention to your limits; if you run on emergency power for too long, you just burn out.

I can totally relate to this. The only reason I did 't end up in a mental hospital was because my gf/ best friend said no way and took responsibility as my care giver. I would be in a public mental hospital in California right now were it not for her.

Unfortunately since my second stroke/ breakdown I have more as traits now than inured to and my meltdowns happen regularly in sensory heavy places and when sudden changes occur. There are a lot of things I can't handle or express well anymore and I think I have lowered in function. I think everyone complains more than they should at one point or another. But telling us "suck it up" and "don't look weak" is not helpful.

Btw I usually take the turtle approach and in our relationship spat just try to be the litsener. Most Nts do not bring forth problems to find a solution so much as to be heard and apologized to, to my undying surprise.

Same as why some NTs expect people to oblige to their every whim - just the way they've been brought up, I guess.
