i suppose due to my failure to find my groove in live, i never could get into existentialism, hard determinism always made more sense to me.

Self-actualisation sounds like a worthy life goal...

My purpose in life is to heal others of their pain. However, I'm really messed up, so I need to heal myself before I heal others. I am extremely optimistic about the future. Everything happens for a reason. I am sure that I am going through a rough time in my life to show me exactly what I need to know in order to help others in the future. I hope to be an art teacher or guidance counselor for others. Or maybe I will take up dance.

That's part of the motions. I'd say the more simple enjoyable motions per day the better.

Good question, sadly I don't think I do anymore. I'm not sure why I'm here or what to do.

if you don't mind, can you describe any life events that you are guessing had something to do with your losing "the name of action" [to borrow from Shakespeare]?

Hmm it's a very challenging question. Because I suffer with social anxiety I'm "self excluded" from society, it effected my education a fair bit too (the anxiety started almost 2 decades ago, mostly untreated) and last year I got out of a controlling relationship which hasn't helped any- not only because of the events that took place but now of course I'm by myself. Hope that at least answers your question a little.

I don’t think there is any meaning to life, you make your own. To be a sentient being, alive for a microsecond in the grand scheme of things is something to experience in whatever way makes you happy. As long as no body gets hurt from doing what makes you happy. But fundamentally life’s purpose is to continually reproduce and evolve to survive. Time, energy and entropy. Life is a consequence of the ever increasing complexity of matter and the universe as we know it.

I think i'm here to learn to empathize with and understand "bad" people or people different from me. I've always felt this way.

I'm available as an uncle, to help out with little ones in any way but wouldn't call it a purpose, more of a duty or instinct.

There is a long distance cycling event that I would like to compete in within the next few years. That gives purpose to my every shorter ride.

None of the above matters, my purpose is to feel alright within myself.

I've never felt aimless. I've felt intensely frustrated because of perceived obstacles (including my own executive dysfunction tbh) to accomplishing my goals.

I can easily visualize who, what, and where I want to be and what I want to be doing. It's getting there that gives me grief.

When I was young , I had a very strong sense of purpose in life but being the Scapegoat in a narcissistic family was hell on Earth . They utterly destroyed anything and everything related to my interest leaving me feeling numb . They are all gone now but the damage that was done is still crippling me , I feel like was robbed of having a fulfilling life . Being autistic really sucks when you are surrounded by family members who are bully *ss , MF'n, POS's . Narcissists are the most dangerous people on the planet if you are autistic , they blame / project their worst attributes on their victims and we , being autistic , believe them .

I'm afraid I don't have any role models for a vibrant old age. My paternal grandmother used to say when I'd visit her, "I'm just waiting to die." She was 94 when she passed so I'd say she had kind of a long wait.

My purpose right now is helping my husband through Alzheimer's disease as well as can be hoped. When that's done, I really don't think I'll have one. Maybe I'll just wait to die.

thank you :) that makes perfect sense to me  the #1 interference with the development of a sense of purpose/self, is hostile other people.

but some people are not able to "make their own" or find any meaning in life. the question of this thread is, "how do the purpose-driven people get that way"?

my purpose is simply to endure and deny those who wanted me gone the victory of my demise.
my hate and anger for them is my only fuel.
God, I hate and envy the normals, unworthy of their stolen air.
