It always feels like such a hassle/chore to brush my teeth I still do, but I hate it. Also either way as I get older I will probably have to get some fake teeth at some point anyways so what's even the point lol, I still do it but I am s**t at flossing so I basically never do that, I do it sometimes and everytime my gums bleed and I don't love that so that makes me want to do it even less.

I don't know if that is an autism thing, specifically but yeah I don't like brushing my teeth but I do because I have to.

My dentist almost threw a fit when I told him it would be easier if I could just take my teeth out to clean them

I don't like brushing my teeth, but I do it anyway too, cuz I HATE going to the dentist, I haven't been to one in over 20 years.

When I was a kid I went a long time without brushing… Can’t remember how long because timeblind but it felt like a while. My step mom was just absent to my care

When I was a kid I went through a phase of pretending to clean my teeth and telling my mother that I had. Then whenever I had a dentist appointment I'd clean my teeth very thoroughly beforehand, and the dentist would always say "it looks like she's cleaning her teeth well".

I haven't even been to the dentist in 3 or 4 years now. I did not handle my last couple of appointments where I had to get a cavity filled well at all and suffered a meltdown in the chair before the dentist could even touch my tooth. I think my fear of the dentist has gotten worse recently because one time he didn't inject enough anesthetic to numb the pain when he started drilling. I didn't say anything, but my face must have said everything because he stopped and asked if I wanted more. I said yes. But then the next time I needed a filling I started crying and freaking out even though he used enough this time. And then he asked if I wanted some vodka or something?

I must have at least 10 cavities by now even if nothing hurts, yet. :(

Just a thought offering , have followed at least one very naturopathic dentist on utube. And it appears that in her well documented opinion. Seems the normal toothpastes on the market are not geared toward preventing cavities, but increasing them. There are brands of toothpaste on the net. That have developed a reputation for Not increasing cavities
And this will mess with your head, the average mouthwashes are also geared towards destroying the normal balance of bacteria in your mouth, also leaving you prone to more bacteria that can be more aggressive than your own mouth bacteria . Thus causing more weakness in teeth . Have been using and buying a selective brand of toothpaste last few years, available online. And just rinsing with water. I use a spinbrush, cause my wrist gets tired with normal brushing.
And no cavities for 2 yrs , but I have to say,I cut back on sweets ALOT too. And improved my nutrition a bit.
Just to add same utube dentist recommended Xylitol for sweetener if ,you want . Not as sweet as suger. But definitely sweet. Xylitol is generally made from Birch trees. And that particular type of sugar actually can neutralize some of the bad bacteria in your mouth that create cavities. And they have been making Chewing gum out of it since before my Father was borne. But you have to search it out . Got mine via the net .Various flavours available, and not very expensive. Hope this helps anyone :|

I forgot to mention that I don't floss partly due to my fine motor-skills & some of my teeth are very close together despite having had braces so it's painful when the tight spaces are flossed. I do use the stick floss when I get something stuck between my teeth. It's a lot easier for me to use than regular floss. Mentioning not flossing reminds me of a Jeff Foxworthy joke & he says something like "Why does my dentist make my lie to him by asking me how often I floss? The last time was when you did it" Some on the spectrum cant lie or majorly dislike lying. I do a good job with lying if I feel the need but I don't feel the need to lie to my dentist about not flossing. Since NTs tend to not have hangups about certain kinds of lying & not showering/bathing & brushing every day is frowned upon in society, I'm suddenly wondering if a good bit of NTs refuse to admit that they don't do that cleaning every day :?

I hate brushing my hair I do

If I could get away with it I wouldn't brush it

I don't know why I feel this way because it's really nice when it is brushed

I've started using a brush in each hand to cut down on the time it takes, that did help me for a few days but now it's back to being an absolute drag
