By the way.. this poll seems to indicate that you're sort of dismissing the idea of older aspies with a spouse and kids. (clumping them all in with young aspies as part of the least remarkable group..) Is that because you're dismissing the idea that you'll ever have a family? D:

My dad thinks his mother has it. She is going to be 90 next month and she married at 23 and had four kids. Now she lives in a home for elderlies.

I am the original poster. The poll is only for single aspies - not married, divorced or widowed aspies or aspies with biological children. Aspies that have been married or in a serious relationship or have kids should pick the first option. In retrospect, I probably should have made the first option say "Other aspie not in any of the categories below."

The purpose is to get some indication of lifespan of uninvolved aspies as compared to the national average. Sorry for the confusion.

My granduncle is in his 80s or 90s. He would have Bern diagnosed by today's standards. I won't count the ages of relatives who have married. He never did. He took care of his mom in her old age until she died very old. His dad was blatantly autistic and so were some brothers and sisters according to my mom.

Me too. But I picked option one, because I was confused by the wording, and presumed that the poster was confused when he wrote it.

Lol I considered picking the first option for the very same reason.

No option on the poll for me :(

I am 49, married with 4 biological kids.

My mother is 80 and very very aspie - still alive. She was married but divorced, had 4 biological kids and messed each of them up just as much as humanly possible. That last part still continues today.

Statistically, having a family affects longevity. Most likely other factors overwhelm this one (for autistic people, I'm betting on comorbid epilepsy and lack of access to good health care being the biggest factors affecting mortality).
