Last year and part of this year, the song I listened to repeatedly was "She'd Rather Be With The DJ" by Hardknox. Earlier this year it was "Ligger Med Varandra" by DJ Auzern. Now it's "Pyromania" by Nightcore.

I noticed that the songs I listen to on repeat have less to do with lyrics than rhythm and melody; "She'd Rather Be With The DJ" and "Pyromania" have pretty shallow lyrics, while I don't understand "Ligger Med Varandra" because I don't speak Swedish. However, all three have simple, looping melodies and a steady rhythm.

I thought you were gonna pick "I'm Not Like Everybody Else". It's one of the original hard-rock songs.

Of course. Though I suspect that like some other things, we often take it a little further from the "reasonable." :)

I often listen to one song on repeat for hours, I did it with Written In The Stars recently.

Stella Was A Diver And She Was Always Down by Interpol, and PDA (also by Interpol). Actually, pretty much anything on Turn On The Bright Lights (album by Interpol) is something that I will listen to over and over especially in the car. I never get tired of that album or any of their songs on any album.

This is my song:

I do it with some others too (notably Heart & Soul by T'Pau), but this one is definitely the main one. I love it so much, I think it might also be the inspiration for my latest obsession (I am messing around with Cubase 5, a digital audio workstation, and I hope to eventually make songs with it).

I find myself listening to the same song over and over and not really getting tired of it at all. Generally with time I will find a new song, but I may go back to an old song to enjoy it again. Eventually songs get phased out but if I stumble across them while listening to cds or youtube accidentally I will listen again and again and again...

Unfortunately, this is "my song":

Its not that the song is bad or anything - i'm a big fan of Pendulum and Freestylers is certainly OK, but it unfortunately the title describes my life at the moment. Some days my name could be Geoffrey House.

This is something I used to do more as a kid but I was often told to stop as it was often at high volume too. I've mostly stopped now but if I need to relieve stress it's the same old songs/bands that get played - Linkin Park or SOAD predominantly!

That's a pretty awesome song, I like to listen to it often! :D

I love Pendulum too! Propane Nightmares was probably the last song that got close to repetition. I'm liking that remix too - not heard it before!

The song is another illustration of what might have been for me.

Used to do this a lot, but have only done it a few times in the last 10 years or more.

One that I played over and over again until I almost broke the tape:

"Twist in my Sobriety" Tanita Tikaram.

Most recent:

"Slowly"

Another old one:

"Will you ... ? " Hazel O'Connor

Don't know why I rarely if ever do this with music anymore. :?

In response to the "everyone does it, not just AS" thing... I know for a fact that I do this far beyond the norms of anyone I know. I've listened to Halcyon, various Enigma, Goo Goo Dolls, and certain other selections literally tens of thousands of times. These are songs that I began listening to when I was in 5th or 6th grade, and now at age 26 still have them on repeat in my car at any given time.

This is something that I don't think NT do...

Really? Everyone I know IRL seems to think listening to music over and over is annoying.

This ^ is true.

This isn't an AS trait. >_> I've seen plenty of NT's do the same thing, having tons of listens to a single song an hour after buying it. Why do you think pop songs are so popular with NTs? Pop songs are meant to be played over, and over, and over.

In another sense, anybody can put a single song on repeat, over and over, and have it pretty much as background music.

Myself, I'm fine with it, but I prefer album listens, not song listens. And my attention span isn't all that great, I'll get distracted by the idea of listening to another song and jump right to that.
