Well, nowadays the vaccines are safer than they used to be. Gee, wonder why the makers phased out all that mercury if they were so "safe"? Still, they must not be the only cause, because we still have autism, but maybe not so much of the sort of autism the vaccines might have triggered, if they did indeed do it? We might be talking about something more complex than originally thought? It could have more than one cause.
Also, the definition of autism is broader now, including people who had speech before the age of two which means more children are being diagnosed with developmental delays but with speech.. The catagory broadens. The number of diagnoses increases.

Many more people have taken the polio vaccine than are autistic.

My parents say when they first brought me home from the hospital I would cry non-stop when they picked me up and I had a hard time getting to sleep. I have always been weird even before I was vaccinated for polio.

Popular demand is one possible explanation. The goal is not to make a good product, but to make money. If no one buys your product, quality doesn't matter, right?

One thing I don't understand. If autism is caused by vaccines why do you want money for it? Oh dear, my child has autism so I deserve money for it.
That will probably offend some people. I'm tired of being polite. How is money going to make the situation any better? People that gets lots of money end up in more debt than those that have less money. Fact.
This world cares too much about money. I see people that take the pharmaceutical industry to court as selfish. Actually I see anyone who sues anyone for money as selfish.
Yep, I've definitely offended people there.

The cause of my autism was most probably my mum rejecting the RH vaccine which would have saved me from RH disease, which contributed to me being pre-maturely born, without any labor. Oh and my dad was pretty autistic. And my mum seems mildy ADHD. Well not mildy. She gets by but she's always really really stressed out.

pensieve, i'm guessing australia has a much better health care system then the U.S.A.
because over here it costs alot if you have an autistic child. and some insurance companies even consider it a pre-existing condition and wont cover a kid with autism.

There is also no link between the flu shot and it actually working, yet doctors still recommend it.

I'm not saying that shots are a definite or only cause of autism, just pointing out how money is so important that they will gladly push a product that doesn't even work.

I have discolored teeth because of excessive Fluoride in the water. My mom, to this day, claims it's the result of having a "severe fever" when the teeth were forming (that's what she was trained to think as a dental hygienist). Problem is, these are my permanent teeth. The fever in question happened when I was very young and still had all my baby teeth.

The effort to promote the safety of Fluoridated water falls short when you see all the evidence showing how bad it is.

Fever and antibiotic use by a pregnant woman or a young baby *can* cause discoloration of adult teeth. Adult teeth start to form in 20-week-old embryos. Excess fluoride can cause white patches on existing adult teeth, but yellow or brown patches are caused by illness or tetracycine use in pregnancy or infancy.
