I've had a celebrity crush (if that's what you want to call it) for most of my life. I guess I'm the type to keep it all to myself though, and I obsess in private.
As to why, I can only speculate, but I suspect it really is a role model thing. It seems a common thing here for people to want to be like the person they're obsessed with. I know in my case, the person had considerably more social skills than I do. :D

That could explain why I like Miranda Cosgrove.I wanted to be a comedian or a singer when I was really little. Miranda isn't a comedian but she is actress & iCarly role is very comedic at times. Plus she has lots of other perfect qualities.

I hate being obsessed with people. It ruins my ability to fall in love with other men, because the men I am currently obsessed with are always on my mind all the time. I can't help who I get obsessed with.

Do you get this feeling that when you find out something new about a person you're obsessed with, you get so excited that you panic because you want to find out more? Then you keep on repeating the new found fact over and over (but wording it different each time) to a close relative of yours (eg mum)? Now, that's obsession!

Back when I was 14, my mum used to call the people I'm obsessed with ''your obsession''. Like if she saw him walking across the street, she used to say, ''oh look, there's your obsession over there.'' That used to irritate me, and I used to say, ''he's got a name, you know!''

The people I'm currently obsessed with started when I was 17, and it started fading just a little bit at 20. Now in the last couple of months it's grew back strong again, and I keep accidentally hinting to my friends about them - which I've really got to try and stop because I know what talking about my last obsessions did to me when I was in school. It made me lose the only friends I had, because they got so tired of me talking about them that in the end they said, ''could you be any more obsessed?!'' I am NOT going to let that happen again to my new friends!

if not then i don't obsess over real people ever. i find it wrong and disturbing, because i see how that has ruined the lives of actors and singers worldwide.

I wish I didn't obsess over real people ever. Unfortunately, my obsessions choose me, as opposed to the other way around. All I can control is how I behave in response to these obsessions.
I'm not going to give any specific examples, because some are really socially unacceptable and would make me seem quite creepy. I take great care when I become obsessed with real people I know. One aspect of these obsessions is invariably the well-being of these people. Having a stalker would interfere with said well-being, which is a pretty compelling reason not to let myself become a stalker. When interacting with a person I'm obsessed with, I take care to make sure my interactions with said person don't differ from my interactions with others. Otherwise, I just observe from afar, and I may google the persons name, or other related information. If I do manage to find any information, I will look to satisfy my curiosity, but I won't take any further action with the information. I'm obsessive, but I'm not a stalker.
I have to say, obsessions with real people I know are the worst. I become obsessed with the success and well being of these people. Thus, when there are signs that anything is wrong regarding the life and/ or health of a person I'm obsessed with at a given time, this causes me worry and anxiety that can become unendurable. This holds especially true when I can't be sure of exactly what's going on, but something doesn't seem right. Of course, my ground rules regarding obsessions of this nature preventing me from investigating to a point that could potentially cross lines or arouse suspicions. Thus, if something seems wrong, I find myself becoming fixated on worst-case scenarios. The worry and anxiety this creates is agonizing. Of course, when life gets in the way, and I lose contact with the person I'm obsessed with, this tends to be quite painful and traumatic. This is true especially when I have unresolved questions regarding the well-being of the person, and I'm fixated on worst case scenarios.
I must say, if you're not prone to obsessions of this nature, count yourself lucky. No other obsessions make me hurt as much as those obsessions. They are a nightmare, an excruciating nightmare. Unfortunately, like I said, my obsessions choose me, not the other way around.

Obsessions choose me too. NTs think I choose them just to be a nuisance. But it's not that way with me.

The strangest thing is, if I fancy someone who I am currently obsessed with, I am never shy, and I don't do any ''social mistakes'', like I do with talking to general friends, colleagues and neighbours. It's like my brain converts itself into an NT brain when I'm talking to a man I'm obsessed with, then I suddenly switch back to being Aspie again. Strange.

my obsessions with game characters is not much different, i can't control who i end up liking and for what reason, i just do. my three top favs, xemnas, harkness, and cullen were at one time characters i didn't like.

xemnas stole narcore's [oc of mine] hairstyle, i actually combined 3 hairstyles from other characters and came up with xemmy's hairstyle before i even knew about him.

harkness was an ass to me after i had gone through hell getting to rivet city, i was not impressed. i later found out he was the android and once i completed the quest the first time i learned his story and my hatred stopped, i've had respect for him ever since.

cullen wasn't much different then harkness, my first game was a dalish elf game so i never knew cullen's story so i found him annoying. it wasn't until i found a video of the mage female origin that i finally made a female mage game, once i learned more about him i felt so bad seeing him caged. he was the one templar who liked mages and uldred traps him and tortures him, i have nothing but compassion for him now.

but yeah my obsessions choose me as well so i understand completely.
