Let's see here...

-Ponies would police the world and stampede anybody who broke the law. Complete with rainbows and magicalness.
-Volcanoes that erupt with candy would sprout in every country.
-In order to protect ourselves from aliens, we would ready cannons that fire lolcats.

Oh wait we're talking about aspie social rule stuffs. Well I guess for the most part I'd agree with people here, except that I couldn't do without humor. :P

As for the perfect friend, well, I don't really think there's such a thing as perfect. I'm willing to accept others' faults so long as they do my own. That said, I really can't put up with people who are angry all the time, or who can't lighten up. I suppose if there was a perfect friend, though, I'd end up marrying them. Quiet, laid back, understanding. Not unconditional, though. Accepting faults is one thing, but people without strong morals tend to be pushed around and, as a result, there is resentment, and that is unhealthy.

Wow, imagining a world like this, how relaxing would that be!

Indeed. I think it would be pretty nice. I'm sure there'd be much less social anxiety were it all set up this way!

To be frank there really mustn't be another psychiatric group more egomanical about their own superiority in social interaction than aspies "we're so efficient and logical and to the point" oh please, get over yourselves.

So far I've picked out two odd points: people should be free to talk at length rudely about their special interests..while at the same time we should all give eachother space and not be rude.

how wonderfully contradictory.

In essence you described the Introverted Intuitive Thinking folks, Shark girl. The land of introversion.

Read up on the INTJ personality. Pragmatic to the core.

A fun question: What differences are there in cognition, social cognition or social behavior between Introverts on the spectrum and Introverts off the spectrum?

To any here, post the differences( if any) you see.

Does it look like introversion has taken a one or two steps deeper ? Perhaps like special interests?

When I see threads as these, I wonder where or how the origin of insight arose from these observations.

What do you think?

If someone said something, it would be considered impolite not to argue about every trivial detail of it.

I can think of a few more:

- Constructive criticism of cooking is PERFECTLY acceptable. Destructive criticism, on the other hand, is still just as rude as in the NT rulebook.

- No person to be in a relationship with has any "status" over any other, nor does either singlehood or being in a relationship have any "status" over the other. Likewise, there are no "status tiers" with friends either. Basically, a rule meant to cut out distractions that keep people from being with the kind of people they really want.

- Hatred of someone just because they're good at math and science is JUST AS BAD AS hatred of people because they're black.

- Bullying would be adressed and considered seriously. The guilt would be on the bully and not the victim (who are considered guilty for being "too weak" or "lacking character" in our NT society)

- Arguments between people would be purely rational and the petty ad-hominems and personal insults would be seen as ridiculous and stupid. The most rational individual would win the argument instead of the most popular individual. Rationality would win over smartass douchebaggery.

Well damn, tell us how you really feel!

I agree with you in the sense that it's a contradiction (although it isn't like both of those things were posted by the same person) but I think many Aspies are aware of when they're being hypocritical and that much of this thread was intended to be taken lightly...IMO people on the spectrum laugh at themselves more than many NTs do.

I myself would love both of those things from people. Is it fair? No. Does it make sense? No. Is it rude and self-centered? Yes.

*shrug* I'm aware that I'm self-centered by nature and that considering the feelings of others isn't my first instinct, but I'm willing to work on it.

If you think Aspies are the most egomaniacal I don't think you've spent much time dealing with any members of the NPD crowd.

Maybe we should segregate the talkative ones from the quiet ones? :P

*social rules would be more lenient.
*personality would matter more and social status wouldn't be important.

The perfect friend would be honest, compassionate, loyal, understanding, and patient.

Spending 10 minutes in an apoplectic rage because someone touched your teacup would be perfectly acceptable behaviour dear boy.

I have been thinking about this lately... if people with Asperger's could be "in charge of" the social rules what would the rules be? I am thinking along the lines of an imaginary situation where people with Asperger's would be most comfortable. I have read a lot about the struggles of people with Asperger's or High Functioning Autism fitting into the "typical" world, but I would like to look at it from the other way around --- the "typical" world fitting into the Aspergers' world. I am the parent of a child with Asperger's and just trying to look at things from a different perspective.

It would be a world where people are quiet at certain times. People would be much quieter in general. There would be less small talk, definitely, and more pensive looks.

If I made the social rules: 1) when people got together solely for the purpose of socializing it would only be acceptable to get together on a one-on-one basis- .i.e. only 2 people interacting with one another at a time.....no groups!2) Noisy and or crowded places would be off limits for socializing .....3) People would arrange a topic of discussion for friendly meeting before hand ......the conversation would be allowed to veer off from the agreed upon topic....but this would provide a starting point......4) Small talk would with strangers would not be expected or encouraged 5). People would be encouraged to be more blunt/ honest with one another

The bluntness I can do without. I would rather just have peace and quiet. There would be some interesting art.

wow you're touchy, 'get over yourself'

Nowhere in the quote have I seen any indication of the concept of being rude. The ironic thing is in a society ruled by asperger 'rude' wouldn't exist- the very concept of rudeness is illogical in an aspy's world, it implies a conformity of behaviour based on acceptable social 'norms', to behave in a manner so as not to offend another. If you had aspergers or understood it you would know that your entire comment of yours makes no sense. If you knew or understood logic at all you would know that your entire comment makes no sense.
