autism and "you're scaring the dog"

Wow sounds like they should get off your back some, and if the dog was scared of you he would avoid you.......and in my experience dogs seem more concerned if someone seems upset than scared. But I don't know the full situation. I know I would get pretty frustrated if people got all over me about melting down or something and it would probably make it worse.
Animals ARE more sympathetic than a lot of human beings. ^^
It seems like flawed logic to me. You know... like the other stuff you've been told as a child. "Eat your meal, children starve in Africa". It doesn't seem at all like a sister who is concerned.

Just stay the hell away from your sister. She's a b***h.
"You're scaring the dog" is a way of saying, "You make me uncomfortable and I don't want you around" without having to own that emotion.
So, she's not only a b***h. She's also a f***ing coward who would rather pawn her emotions off on an innocent canine and confuse the sh** out of her own flesh and blood than tell the truth. Because then she might not look so good.
In her own eyes, or anyone else's. But this way, she's a good dog-mommy and you're an evil nasty crazy person.
I HOPE ALL f***ing NT SCUM-f**** BURN FOR EVER AND EVER AND EVER IN THE DARKEST PITS OF HELL.

We have a dog that doesn't like raised voices. My sisters voice can get very loud. Dogs have hearing sensitivity too. I once threw something at my cat by accident and she got scared. Animals are just more sensitive to our moods, noises, actions than we really think.
It sounds like your sister doesn't know how to deal with your SIB, to get you to calm down so uses her dog instead. The dog could be frightened by loud noises too especially if it saw you in pain. I'm sure the dog would like to help you calm down if it could. Try lying down on the ground after a meltdown and see if he will come over to you...if your sister allows it.

Please read this before judging the sister too harshly: http://www.bcrescue.org/bcwarning.html
I love dogs, but I do not trust that breed as a pet.

So the sister has a Collie?
Why not just lock her away when the OP has a meltdown?
my sister calls it a "border collie"
he is a realy realy realy, sweet and calm dog he only "reacts" in any way if a "stranger" comes in the house, but then all they have to do is give him a bit of bread and hes all over them licking and all sorts. he also loves the park everyone has to say it as p.a.r.k or he will get all jumpy and exited and start crying. which is the same for walk.
he pretectts us like his "pack" as my sister calls it.
hes never "backed away" as someone described dogs fear in previous posts.

i think that is a good sugesstion, but its not wise with this dog haha, if you get down to his level or lower he will madly climb all over you and lick you like crazy and keep putting his paws on your arms.
