I definately find animals easier then people, I have five horses of my own and look after a further ten for people as my day job... My other job is a little more unique, I work with my horses out in public supplying horse and carriage hire for weddings, funerals and other occasions... I have a dog too, so I'd say animals are firmly ensconced in my life.

Wouldn't have it any other way.

It is animals for sure!! ! As a child though i tended to connect to animals rather than people. People are mean. i still prefer animals and only one person.

I feel like that, especially with cats. It's a shame that I'm allergic to animals though.

I once had this AMAZING cat. I mean...she was perfect...and I loved her more than anything (I was 27, so not a "kid").

When she died, I cried more than when my mother died. No s**t.

I prefer animals, especially MY animals (2 cats 2 parrots and a bunch of fish)

Animals don't lie about their wants and needs. If you hurt them, they let you know. If they want attention, they tell you so. It's easier. It's logical. It's the way I am.

So true. They don't have hidden expectations that we're supposed to guess. They don't play mind games, don't have hidden agendas, don't express one thing and mean another, don't suddenly give us the cold shoulder and we're supposed to guess why. They don't cheat, don't abuse our trust, aren't phony. Their manipulations are easy enough to see through and innocent.

Well, my cat is a master of mind control. She knows just what to do when she wants something. But although she uses her knowledge to her advantage, she never judges me, or make me feel bad. She and my puppy simply accept me for who I am, and they're always glad to see me, my puppy more so, because they're genuinely happy to see me. They don't pretend.

I'm definitely the same.

I have never gravitated towards people (except for first degree rels), but I have always liked animals, and even as a child I had great compassion for them, but never towards people. Today, nothing has changed.
Why? Probably for the same reason some others gravitate towards people: Brain chemistry.
As many have already pointed out, animals are true, non-deceptive, non-judgemental, but they were still my natural preference before I was aware of that, going back to toddler age.

I do not really like people to be honest, I prefer to be in the company of my pet cat. Because of this, there is a possibility that when my cat dies, the grief will be the same or even worse as losing a parent. If given a choose to save my pet cat or a human I would save my pet cat. My pet cat is part of my life, the stranger is not. That is how bad my dislike of humans can get.

I fail to see what that has to do with dislike. Of course I'd save the life of the individual I love, and not simply someone happening to be a certain species! I could never live with myself otherwise. I realy dislike people in general, but I wouldn't have to dislike someone to choose my pet. The pet always wins!
I have lost both beloved pets as well as beloved family members, and it is equally painful, and it takes years to get past the worst grief, and it's never completely gone for me.

I'm actually kind of surprised I'm the first person to not be a pet person. Animal nonverbal communication is at least as confusing and unreadable to me as human. I never know what an animal wants unless it's being extremely direct. I especially don't pick up on when they want to play or want attention well. Our dog would probably be more confusing, if she wasn't genuinely a little slow. We don't know much about her history (being the fifth owner in five years leaves a lot of questions) but we know she was born in New Orleans the same year Katrina hit, and we think something might have happened to her then. She was also spayed at home by the crazy wannabe breeder who had her before us, so god knows how safe that was.

But back on topic, I also have kind of a germ thing, and animals are gross. I do kind of like cats, but only really smart ones.

I might be better with them, if had ever had good pets growing up, but my parents are terrible with animals. They are really bad about getting over the new of an animal and really bad about following through with any kind of training or socialization. They always have a few half feral animals running around doing their own thing out in the boonies.

I can get the germ thing,I have seen dogs roll on dead things and the idea of petting one worries me.I don't dislike dogs,I think they are great for the people who understand them.Plus a nurse told me that the bacteria that grows on dead things is a type of flesh eating bacteria. And I've seen dogs eat some really nasty things. And they will roll in poop.Plus I live in an area with lots of ticks and tick borne diseases, and I can't deal with fleas.I've had dogs in the past and loved them but I can't deal with the parasites.I really love my reptiles, they are very clean, not needy and they do show affection. They have to learn to trust you and I get this.Trust is earned. My wonderful pet iguana would take naps with me,sit In my lap,and he loved for me to carry him around. He even liked car rides. He died about a month ago and I don't know when I'll get over it.

Yeah, I cannot put into words how much I appreciate that a cat's natural desire is to bury its poop. That's at least a third of the reason I kind of like cats.

I get the problem with germs. Although, I have more of a problem with germs from people than from animals. :? I have seen my pets eat nasty things, like my cat eats flies, crickets, and lizards, and my puppy once swallowed a fly without realizing it. He and our older dog probably eat quite a few nasty things when no one's outside, too. They like to roll around in the dirt and grass, too. But I have no trouble cleaning the litterbox or the yard(unless it's real real hot outside), but I can't clean a toilet, take out the bathroom trash, or even clean the shower. If it was a bathroom only I used, I could do it, but other people use it, too. I don't mind my pets' licking me or leaving hairs on me, either. However, if I found a strand in my hairbrush, shower cap, blouse, or anywhere that wasn't my own, I'd be grossed out and not ever use or wear whatever it was on again. After all, I can't catch feline leukemia or parvo from them. People, on the other hand, if they have anything, even a cold, they're contagious.

That's why I try not to affiliate with dirty people or animals. `-`

My wife's germ issues are worse than mine. I've actually helped her leave some OCD caliber germ issues behind.

Ok I will explain myself further. Now if this was a choice between a stranger cat and a human it would depend on the circumferences.

1 For young people under the age of 18 years or less, I would most likely let the human live.

2 Say a person is 40 years or more and unmarried with no kids. I would let the cat live

3 If the person was married was under 40 years old and has kids, I would flip a coin again to decide weather to kill the cat or the human just to make it fair.

4 A married person who is over 40 and a cat who is under 10 years old will make me save the cat.

5 In case the person is over 60 years old the most likely outcome would be saving the cat.

Now this has something to do with the dislike of humans.
