Female, and the tendency towards both. Admittedly in the past when I became obsessed over people I knew, it rarely worked out well (I seemed to not give the other person enough breathing room), so these days, since I don't really know where boundaries lie too well, I stay far away and generally chide myself if I can feel the ol' inkling of obsession being reawakened. I would usually become obsessed with a mentor figure. Rarely anything involving romantic feelings.

I chose 'people AND subjects', but the only people I get obsessed with are TV actors and characters. I don't take enough notice of people around me to see them as anything more than an irritant.
