Rant: Topics on how great ASD people are bothers me
Your argument is downright mediocre
The reason is that you're declaring autistic people's worth on the basis of how well they fit into NT society, even though the majority of us (the vast majority) have significant problems doing so. .
I see you are someone who cannot address what I wrote so you insult me.
I said nothing about "fitting into NT society". I commented on ASD people being called "gifted" when no one provides any evidence of this, or explanation of this. Please read the topic again.
People can't just say they're gifted, it follows a criteria. Mainly the IQ has to be high enough. I don't have an IQ that high. I may be above average if I didn't fail so hard at math. Or you know do so bad at short term memory tests.
I get called gifted because of the three years I spent on Ritalin being creative and productive, and I hated it. I knew deep down that I wasn't gifted. These people even knew me as the child that spent most of her schooling in remedial classes.
I relate a bit to the gifted criteria but I'm a huge late bloomer, who still doesn't have a high enough IQ.
When I talk about how great ASD is for me I'm sure to elaborate. I believe it makes me process this world differently than others, not just through the senses but even through understanding information. I like my attention to detail at times. It has helped me become an artist who spends time on minor details or makes my band photography stand out. I like that I can absorb facts and memorize them so easily. I have ADHD too and my short term memory is virtually non-existent so I'm surprised that I can pull a fact about something I read up about 5 years ago. I think I have a healthy balance of logic and emotional thinking. OK, my mood disorder can make me get taken away by my emotions but logic saves me in the end. I think that my natural need for order helps keep my ADHD disorganization more in check.
As for socially, I'm usually honest and painfully aware when I lie. I feel a lot of guilt and hate to do it. I hate gossip and find a lot of conversational topics to be impractical. Nothing can be learned from them and most of the time people just agree and get angrier about something and don't open their minds up to other possible ways to look at the situation. I also don't get influenced by peer pressure.
Playing video games for me is therapeutic. I tend to burn out after a couple of hours though so I hardly get addicted. It's a good escape from my problems, especially the obsessive limerant thoughts. I notice how it increases my concentration and memory. I really struggle in that area.
I don't think what the OP said about people playing video games was that offensive. People are just jumping to conclusions based on their own personal feelings. I'm kind of glad I don't spend hours and hours and hours playing videogames. It just seems to be a waste of a lot of energy and focus. Well, I do have some very bad concentration and energy issues.
Did I mention everything? I get along with animals really well.
I agree that is important to keep socialising to make sure you don't lose those skills. I once went about 3 months with no social contact. I was clueless about what to say or do when I had to socialise again. However, sometimes I can find socialising very stressful to the point of depression and I need to take some time off. Not too long. A week, maybe.
Most of my special interests are for a practical use or they turn into one. It started with reading/watching sci-fi which turned into watching/reading them for research for my own sci-fi book. Now I read comic books as another escape and because my under medicated ADHD brain can't handle anything heavier, but I come up with my own stories in my head and kind of feel like making my own comic book illustrations.

I think ASD people should be willing to admit to a potential employer that they have a disability, and they might need special consideration. The ASD person should be humble, and be willing to be treated as a lowering functioning NT person. I don't think it is good that "ASD Pride" sites tell them how gifted and special they are when to get a job you need humility, especially if the ASD expression you have causes you difficulty at work.
I can understand that. If someone with ASD shows too much over confidence then it will be less believed by other when they start to struggle, and they might try to hide it to keep their reputation up and make sure it doesn't sound like they lied in the job interview.
Then there are those that are too nervous to mention their diagnosis when they need to people they are nervous throughout the whole interview, have poor work history and desperately need to get the job. But the employer just sees them as too nervous and goes with the person with more experience and/or a bubbly personality.
But the government has decided I'm currently unfit to work. I agree. It's not ASD related. I was the too nervous one unable to admit I had autism.

This isn´t about AS or not.
This is about the majority of people being unrealistic and dreaming about success, but avoiding the "miserable, painful, hard work", because it takes such bloody hard discipline. (I have a struggle with that myself).
Many people avoid it because of lack of faith in themselves, - AS or NT.
Some A.S. people with their social "dim sight" or perhaps tendencies to withdraw and an extra need of quiet, probably are a little more challenged, but when it comes down to it, success is about leaving the comfort zone and get on with the hard work.

I didn't insult you. I said your argument was mediocre and that you're not really all that great because of your hyperjudgmental comments about "squandering life." When I reached that line, I realized that you're looking for a way to determine who is good enough and who is not, and I have no use for such nonsense.
How that means "fitting into NT society" is that you referred to playing video games as a detriment while going on to talk about how autistic people can go on to be stratospherically smart and successful. This rather falls in line with "fitting into NT society." I do not mean that fitting in is a bad thing, but rather that fitting in can be a hard thing. If someone of any neurology is spending all their time playing video games, there is likely a good reason for such an outcome, and it does not necessarily mean "squandering their life." It's not even their entire life and you don't even know if the person saying they play videogames means they do nothing but play videogames.
"Gifted" is a particular kind of category that some people are classified into on the basis of tests that determine IQ score and aptitudes. It's not something that is automatically considered a part of autism. Even if someone is classified as gifted, that doesn't mean they do not experience moderate to severe impairments.
That makes no sense. Making judgemental statements has nothing to do with the "greatness" of my ASD. Apparently, you did not like my comments so you deemed me to be "not so great". That is an intentional insult.
I am not determining who is good or not. We have ASD people on here calling themselves gifted, and they don't say why they are gifted. Unlike me, they don't say where they work. I challenge that. I identified reasons these people might call themselves gifted based on particular ASD traits. However, these supposedly "gifted" ASD people don't do that. They just proclaim their giftedness or high intelligence. If you have giftedness or high intelligence then explain that. Intelligence is not an all-encompassing trait, probably these ASD people claiming high intelligence would fail miserably at EQ (emotional intelligence).
If you search google "gifted aspie plays computer games" you can see ASPIE articles of supposedly gifted AS people that play computer games all the time. Sorry, my opinion is that getting to level 5000 in World of War Craft is not a gift; it is a squandered life. The U.S. will immigrate NT people that did not spend their youth playing games, and bring them into the U.S. to take the high paying, intellectual jobs that these supposedly "gifted" ASD people could of got. That is reality.
I work with people with Phd engineering degrees and have a law degree and multiple B.S. degrees, and these people don't consider themselves gifted. Are you suggesting all these NT people are gifted? What 20% of NT people are gifted ?
Gifted does not equal awesome, which seems to be the assumption being made. If someone is gifted then there are some (possibly limited) areas where that person has an easier grasp or understanding compared to an average.
What is irritating to me is the judgement of "squandering". Not everyone bases the quality of their lives on financial, social, or academic achievements. If someone wants to spend their free time on WOW, video games, whatever because it brings them a measure of happiness, then I don't see it as time wasting or "squandering". It may in fact improve quality of life in its own fashion.
I don't/can't feel happy in my life if I don't/can't use my intellectual abilities for productive activities.
It is difficult for autistic people to have opportunities to use their intellectual abilities for productive activities, so it is important to help autistic people to have opportunities.
I used to want to do productive things with my ability, I used to want to help people. But not only did society reject me despite my trying my best to 'fit' in, it kicked me in guts multiple times whilst I was down as well.
Now I have little interest in using my ability to help society in general. It is not a society I am part of or included in, so why should I help it exactly?
These days I will only use my ability to help myself (which it has, I helped myself over several addictions and restored my physical health) and those close to me (if i had anybody really close to me).
Society can go to god damned hell.
It doesn't want to include me? I don't want to give it a helping hand.
I don't agree with the superiority of some either, but to be honest people who feel that way probably have had to go through things that make being like that understandable, if you have been ostracized by people in your society thinking that its because you are superior is probably healthier than beating yourself up thinking its you. although developing that kind of arrogance is also not a good thing and probably serves for further ostracise.
In objective reality there is no such thing as superior. A person can't be what doesn't, in reality, exist.
It is a subject value judgement, not objective fact.
I hate this stinking belief system though because even if you don't believe yourself to be superior, if you are even remotely good at anything, people will believe you do. This causes unfair ostracisation, not because of your attitude but because of others peoples insecurity.
You pay the price for their fragile ego. Which sucks big time.

in terms of being no such thing as superiority that is true, but people thinking they are superior does occur in both Nts and non Nts, I think in some cases people do come across as looking down there noses at you, whether that is because of the class system or a number of other things. you can be good at something and still not come across as superior you just need to be not arrogant. I am sure what you say is true also in that people will ostracise you because or their own insecurities but that's not always the case.
so really sometimes its the person being superior and in other cases its people being threatened by something that they don't possess such as someone having high intelligence or being rich

Aye, true, but I guess it doesn't get to me because I don't believe in superiority in the first place. I am more bothered by people believing in things that are not real. I'm surprised they don't all still believe in Santa Clause. Many still believe in a God.

haha that's quite funny, well Santa clause makes as much sense as God does but people from a certain age discontinue a believe in him.
well if you look at it nothing matters, everything is relative in my opinion. although that theory can cause damage, there is an actual sociological theory that suggests that because everything is subjective there is no right and wrong, now if that were to be adopted by society everything would go to hell.

They do indeed need such concepts otherwise society would go on a rampage and that can't be a good thing...
It would have to rely on human kindness, decency and empathy instead and that is a bit risky to say the least.

in other societies that idea definitely has not worked, communism has that problem, it relies on the decency of the people in charge, it never works, corruption always happens
