For me it depends on lots of things. What kind of mood I'm in, whether or not my house is cleaned to my satisfaction, if I'm dressed or at least showered, whether or not I'm doing something I don't want to be interrupted from, if I like the person, what they want, etc. I've gotten pretty good at coming up with off the cuff excuses so they can't stay.

I'm perfectly fine with people dropping by to see the kids or my husband. That doesn't concern me at all. I just let them in and go on about my business.

I once knew this guy who used to drop in on people all the time. He would call first sometimes, but if someone didn't have a listed phone number he thought he was perfectly within his rights to drop in on them. He actually said to me "People who have unlisted numbers just have to put up with drop in visits, since I can't call instead". He would drop in on people whose unlisted numbers he didn't have and just sit down and try to visit for a while and chat. He actually told people they deserve drop in's since they won't list their number. Yeah, he doesn't have many friends at all.

Oh no! That is unacceptable. I need warning by email, not phone!
