I can visualize things, but not in a really detailed way. I can create a general picture in my mind, but I can't really recall specific details. Part of that is I just don't pay attention to details. I'm far from having a photographic memory.

It's the same way with faces. I can create a fleeting mental image, but can't really remember exactly what that person's nose, mouth, etc. looks like. When I have a crush on someone, I like to try to picture their face in my mind, and only once in a while can I get a really clear picture of them. Somehow, though, I manage to recognize people when I see them, even if I didn't really remember what their face looked like.

I do visualize when reading, though. And often when I go to bed and close my eyes at night, I see a mental picture of what I did that day. Like, if I went swimming, I'll see the water of the swimming pool in my mind.

The more I appreciate someone, the more I look past their face and thus it gets harder to picture them save for the vibe I got from them. It's like the only people I notice changing are the ones I care most about.

I can't visualise things very clearly. I'm currently adding a second layer of glazing to a couple of windows, and it's very slow going because it's hard for me to imagine how it all fits together in 3 dimensions. I have to keep looking at the actual window and trying the bits and pieces I've cut out to see how it works. I'm better with 2 dimensional problems, though even that can get too complicated.

Yes! That was what I was meaning to say, though I can never seem to say it without expending a wall of words. :oops: Something can be as clear as day in my head but without the physical visual aid, the right image does not come out.

Oddly, at least when it comes to repeated exposures, I seem better able to identify people based on voice rather than face. There have been many times actors (even non-famous ones) have appeared on TV and they might have looked completely different but their voice would give them away.

Here's another something odd. Take for example my cat, who is white with black spots, and whom we have had for about 14 years. If I were to try to describe him right now and give the locations and size of all of his spots, I could not do it; I doubt I could even drawn an accurate picture. However, if I were to have several cats of his type and general coloration standing before me (and if they were all acting the same so as to present no bias), I could almost certainly pick the right one based on the placement of his spots. Because the other cats' spots would just "look wrong," somehow.

I suspect this, because when I see mirror images of our cat, he looks wrong due to the reversal of the black coloration on his head. :|

I have zero visual memory. I can't even remember what my husband or kids look like if I don't have their photos.

I have a horrid time trying to navigate anywhere, I can't read maps, and I can't remember pictures at all. It's just pointless. I have some face blindness although once I've seen someone 8 or 10 times I start to remember - vaguely - who they are.

When I visualize people, they are people I have known in my life time or people I have seen on TV. They are like actors in the book I am reading. When I picture places, it can be my own imagination like places I have seen rather in real life or on TV. I used to have a real hard time with this as a child so I didn't like chapter books as the result and I didn't start reading them until I was 9.I didn't know how to form words into pictures and I didn't even know I could do that until I was older.

But I cannot visualize something and then draw it or look at a pattern and fold it in my head to see what shape it makes or what pattern it makes which is why I suck at geometry and could never do it. I hear autistic people are supposed to be good at this.

If it's something I have never seen before and it gets described, I have a hard time picturing it. I even read something slowly to try and make a picture in my head using the description.

Ugh, don't even get me started on navigating...every time I go to get my blood drawn at the local hospital, which I have to have done semi-frequently due to health issues, I need the nurse to point me out the right direction to head in on my way out. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. :x They must think I'm a moron. ;_;

It's a good thing I don't drive, I'd probably head off someplace and never be seen again!

I think I can visualize a 7 dimensional object pretty well.

I can visualize things quite well. I didn't actually realize until about a month ago that this wasn't something everyone could do.

However, I have a rather hard time visualizing outside of my point of view. I mean like from a bird's-eye view or something. We once had an assignment in school where we had to draw a map from the school to the local mall and, while I could easily navigate there in my mind as if I were walking, I was unable to view the route as a whole to draw the map.
