Why does life hurt?

I look at people and often think, do they ever feel the pain I do? Do they ever feel randomly sick in situations? Does their stomach hurt when their nervous? Is their heart racing right now? Do they want to run away? But they all look "normal" going about their business happy and content.

I wonder what that feels like? Life is pretty painful, and it appears life also has no real purpose which is even more confusing.
