Yes I hate cops. I understand not all of them are bad but the jobsworths and those who hassle you for such crimes as walking down a street when its dark or having long hair and looking stoned have put them all on my shitlist.

The only bad experience I had was with a racist sheriff's deputy outside of Joshua Tree, when we were pulled over simply because the friend who was driving just happened to be black.

Except for that one incident, my experiences with the police have been uneventful as I've never been pulled over for any reason. In fact, some of my friends are former officers, and we get along just fine.

I appreciate cops and their dangerous and difficult jobs. It is unfortunate that your nervousness fits the profile of a criminal hoping the cop won't find his hidden stash, but that is not the fault of the cop. He lives by statistics as do we all until we personally get to know the person that we fit in a certain slot in our worldview.
It can be annoying. I try to remember the harassment is not personal. When I was late for a plane while trying to rescue my grandchildren from an addicted mother who handed them to me without their ADHD medication, I was truly annoyed to be pulled aside for a search. I kept wanting to shout "What grandmother is going to blow up a plane with her grandchildren in it?" but I knew they were simply following the rules of their job. So I tried to contain my impatience while fussing inside. Maybe a mother might blow up her kids, but a grandmother, uh uh, ain't gonna happen. Maybe they called ahead, because when I arrived with my bouncing ball kids, the stewards were reopening the door of the plane for us. The stewards came to regret that act of kindness, hah!

I do not hate all people who are in the police. However the ones I have met have not been too kind/understanding or intelligent. I do not think it is fair that someone can think i look suspicious and search me. This happend at work. I hate being searched, its damn near impossiable for me to keep still during this but i am scared if i make sudden movements they will think i am even more suspicious and maybe even violent.
Also after going through something that pretty much destroyed me emotionally for a few years, the poilce were most insencitive and stupid.

Ugh, I can't stand cops. I've only seen one or two nice ones in my life. That's it. One time, I was at the mall getting harrassed by a classmate and the cop assumed it was my fault, started screaming at me, and nearly took me away in handcuffs! Thank God he gave me the option to just leave. He was a sheriff, too, of all things. They're typically the worst ones.

In an NT society wherein people are want to do despicable (say like Daffy) things, we need cops. Do I hate them? No. Indeed I have a friend who is a good cop, I live in his yard!

But - in general - am I frightened of them? Scared as s**t of 'em, f - ing A!

Am like the cops/police,they can be very helpful when in need.
They are nothing to bother about if the person is not doing anything illegal,if they suspect any innocent for their autistic way of being, they cannot do anything without evidence.

I know that police are just people and not all are bad but this pretty much sums up why I hate police officers in general. No need for me to repeat what has already been said.

Police are just doing their job. Can't blame them when they're trained to deal with normal human behaviour... They should have training in detecting and dealing with people who have AS and such though.

I do not like cops. It is odd. If I am walking along with my children and cops come past (by car or on foot) instinctively put my arms around them and glare at the cops until they go. Cops seeing me do this tend to look embarrassed and their smile disappear. THe spring in their step drops a bit and their shoulders slump a bit, especially the younger ones. My six year old asks if I like cops and I usually say "No I don't but they have an important job to do" - Which is as honest as I can be. If they hadn't have been so unreasonable towards me when I was younger, perhaps those same police would get waves by my children and pass us in smiles.

No, I don't hate them at all. Not all of my dealings with police have been pleasant, but that's irrelevant. From an objective standpoint, they perform a necessary function, since it seems that most people require the threat of punishment to avoid doing evil, and they seem to get tons of bad press. It's not important for them to be sensitive, or even terribly civil. They enforce laws; they don't make them.

Any time I've dealt with cops, they've always been very arrogant, accusatory, and harsh in an overly authoratarian way. I even get cussed out by one for beeping my horn when he almost backed into my car. My poor daughter was 4 at the time, and was scared to death. She's been afraid of cops ever since.

I know they can't be all bad and have a place in society, but many do not carry the proper attitude and respect with the public. They also have alot of power and discretion to treat different people differently under same circumstances, which is often based on inaccurate presumptions and first impressions.

I've felt I've been treated harshly, thought of as very suspicious, accused of being false/lying, etc.

Then I hear of others in similar situations who were not treated in this manner at all. I even hear of people saying how they constantly talk their way out of tickets or out of getting into trouble, or for whatever reason they're let go. This never happens to me! In fact, quite the opposite, even though I am always pleasant, honest, respectful, and compliant.

Perhaps it is how I come accross as an Aspie? I don't know for sure, but it sucks.. cuz like I said, every interaction I've personally had has been unpleasant.

Well I certainly see I'm not alone in this one.

And I totally understand that this does not apply to all authority figures, as I have met just a handful of nice ones. But the sh!tty ones so badly outnumber them that I really have to fight off panic mode every time I see an authority coming my way.
