My tics can aggravate me every day. Blinking and vocal grunting are the worst for me and I am constantly blinking unless I'm focused on something like a book, a video game, etc..

I'm against the cure for the same reason that I am for autism. It could mean losing who I am now.

I've learned to control my tics most of the time. It does drain a lot of energy. But I can't get any medication because of either side effects or making my other symptoms worse. I got autism. Touretttes and adhd

I have Tourette's but I don't need a cure. I have treatment and that's enough.

Yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes.

Did I mention yes?

I would absolutely love a cure for Tourette's. I find no redeeming qualities associated with the disorder. It is socially, emotionally, and physically exhausting. The medicine I've tried (Tenex) worked only initially, and I'd rather just not have to take another med.

Unlike autism, which has its merits, I cannot think of a single way that Tourette's has improved my life. Add Bipolar Disorder and Asperger's into the mix, and Tourette's becomes yet another burden to bear.

I suppose you might argue, in one of those defiant, angsty ways, that Tourette's has helped me not care what others think and be more comfortable with myself despite my differences, but I'd be totally using rose-colored glasses.
