The writer of the article needs to go back to English and Writing class! It's THEIR for Pete's sake! Used the wrong word twice in that tiny little article.
Very annoying.

Autism is a neurological disorder. Autism is NOT a mental illness.

I agree, I was however trying to keep in the context of the statement from the church of scientology.

I repeat what I've said in other threads about this: I don't think it matters that much if a parent accepts the autism label or not. Much more important will be how they treat the child. Most members here don't feel there is effective treatment for autism, so what is the big deal on the label? What we do NOT know and what has NOT been detailed in any of these articles is how the parent's actually treated their son. How they worked or did not work with him; how they perceived him.

What would have been clear cause for negligence would have been failing to treat the seizures, and this article is very clear that the parents DID medicate for the seizures.

They treated him with some $cientology crap for Kawasaki Syndome which would have been no help at all.

There is no treatment for Autism. Except the problems we make up our mind and will to change. Scientology is not taken seriously by anyone who is knowledgible. What they have to say is of no conseqeunce to me.
