Cop to autistic “I will blow your f****** head off, ni***r&q
I guess I should add, to maybe give people's anger some vague direction or relief: the situation right now is he's in a psych facility, and has been charged with felonies. His mother needs to hire a lawyer. She said in that audio interview that it's a small town and she doesn't seem to have faith that a public defender won't be influenced by the small town old-boy's network (which includes the police).
Lawyers she has contacted have quoted her $20,000 or more, which she can't afford. Maybe with enough publicity a lawyer will take the case for the media recognition. So spreading the word about this story might help.
I also just read that Ari Ne'eman of the Autistic Self-Advocacy Network (ASAN) is in contact with Neli's mother, so that's good.
No, we are not. We are actually pathetic liars in most cases, and not very good at it.
Speak for yourself. My aspie son is a wonderful liar. A champion. I know of a few locally that aren't bad either. We all come in different shapes and sizes. Besides Tony Attwood speaks of the deviant aspie. There are a few in prison.
Tony Attwood is not the God of Asperger's. I can not lie to save my life and have not met an aspie who can or is at all good at it, it goes against the way the Asperger/Autistic mind works. I was accused of lying when I was a child because of my lack of eye contact which made me very upset. Now, my Bi Polar son's first instinct is to lie and he has little to no remorse and he is spending his second year in prison. Maybe these "deviant aspies" are either misdiagnosed (and I have seen a lot of kids who seem more early onset Bi Polar, even in my sons social group, that are diagnosed with Asperger's)....or they could have a co existing condition.
Im not saying that this kid didnt fabricate part of the story but he could be doing that because he is scared....I dont see that as deviant.

It happens more than you think.
I'm not surprised why cops get killed anymore...

That doesn't even make sense. I don't know how someone young enough to be on the police force would be old enough to remember "cracking whips" on anyone's back. If he's going to be a racist he should at least get his information together. lol. Anyway, I really don't how people think they can get away with anything like this these days. Did he think the boy wouldn't be able to tell anyone? Did hr think he was non-verbal or something?
Was this the same case where the guy was literally just sitting outside the library waiting for it to open, someone saw and assumed he MUST have some sort of weapon and a malicious intent because he committed the horrible crime of SITTING OUTSIDE A BUILDING, so the police went and harassed him?
F**k the police, seriously. The racism only makes this a million times worse. I hope they all burn in hell, along with the person who rung the police up in the first place over something so stupid.
The officer is 55 years old. So all of his racial "jargon" is actually quite age appropriate.

Not if he's referring to slavery...if he meant using violence as an officer "back in his day" I see what he's saying, but he wouldn't have been "cracking any whips".

He was saying those things to try and get a reaction out Neli. When faced with bigotry or racism a large number of individuals may react before thinking about the situation and I would imagine that is what the officer wanted in that situation. Hateful behavior leading to emotional and possibly incriminating response.
Nelismom, has Michel contacted you yet? Usually she is a strong advocate on informing people of these unfortunate situations.

No I haven't been contacted.
Here's an Aspie website stating that Neli is using the race card to get out of this. aspieweb. net/aspergers-teen-reginald-latson-arrested-racial-gun/
I already knew this would happen when the truth came out. I wrote down everything Neli said happened to him. And he had been consistent since day 1. Also, Neli has a very good event recall rate. He has a photographic memory and can remember things in detail that occurred years ago. Which is not unlikely for a person on the spectrum.I knew this would happen when the full truth was told.

Don't listen to the guy who runs AspieWeb, he's frankly a cock who also censors comments on his blog that don't agree with his view.
I hope everything works out for your son

Thanks for posting this story. Neli is still locked away and if I don't get this out nationally the police officers will get away with this and my son's life will be over. Here is a video account from Neli of what happened that day. Please spread the word. Thank You!!
Well, I cant post the link but it's on the website I created for him (avoiceforneli). Thanks everyone for your support.
I’ve gotten tons of emails asking how people can help with this situation. I’ve decided to start an email campaign to several major news outlets to report this story. I am taking other actions as well, but this is a way that others who are concerned can contribute. Please retweet this effort and share it on Facebook and everywhere else you can think of. Thanks to everyone for their support.
The details of the email campaign are on my "A Voice for Neli" website. It only takes a few moments to send the email. Thank you.

Peple who don't know enough about how cops often operate, to believe this, ought to just stay out of it and stop making things worse.
I posted about this giving my own experience with cops (and the fact that I predicted hewas grabbed from behind before I found out he was) here (link). My mom replied with more details of one incident. In response (which I didn't approve because I'm not giving airspace to people who justify this crap in any way) someone accused me of writing my mother's reply myself. *headdesk* Some people will warp the truth any way they can in order to avoid unpleasant realities, especially about authority figures they want for some bizarre reason to trust.
Regarding autistics and lying it's not that we universally don't lie but that most of us don't (sometimes after trying it and deciding not to, sometimes just not doing it). Like all people we vary. But accusing someone of lying because you essentially don't want to be aware of the extent of racism and ableism that exists is just wrong.
