Considering that the average neurotypical enjoys better relational and socioeconomic outcomes than the average aspergers person, for sure. However, if I had aspergers, I wouldn't waste my time thinking such thoughts because that would only serve to depress me and result in a counter-productive self-defeating attitude.

Sometimes I wish that I was NT, but when it all comes down to it, I'd want to stay an aspie.

The vast majority aspire for "normalcy" and/or "superiority", and being aspie wouldn't lead to either one of those and the vast majority of neurotypicals care about their relationships with other people -- they could never reasonably imagine choosing to be afflicted with something that'd negatively impact that. However, there might be a few desperados and/or freaks out there. For example, I'm pretty sure there's a few of the severely schizophrenic that'd take places with an aspie, any day.

I'd have to try it first. Evaluate the difference, assume that's possible and then decide. How could one know which is better?

I don't think I would want to be an NT, no.

Having sex ten times as often sounds like a no brainer to me.

Some people don't want sex--there are more important things in life then that.

I agree. If people with ASD were the majority, then people would see it better to have ASD. People often want to be in the majority, and the majority oftens excludes the minority. So people, even with mild ASDs are often ostracized. Wouldn't be that way if there were more of us than them!

No no no! Of course not. That's like asking: "would you like to be somebody else?"

Even though there are things about my life that distress me sometimes, I'm quite happy being me. :bounce:

Not Kon. He'd rather be hung like a shetland pony and bask in physical pleasure all day.

No. I would stay autistic even with a choice.

That makes you wonder, if the majority of people were at least mildly aspergerian, would NTs be ostracized? I guess an answer to that question can be inferred from how the average neurotypical is treated on the forums.

(Most aspies here dislike me, -sob-. But the same is true of most NTs, so that just means I'm a universally dislikable person. :P)

On the positive side, I might lose all the illogical anxiety and panic responses. However, I could end up one of the many NT people who also suffer panic attacks in safe situations.

On the negative side, I'm sure it would take me longer than 10 minutes to be showered, dry, dressed and ready to go out - my husband finds this an astounding skill in a woman!

I think I'd rather have the option of allowing my Mum to spend a day or two living in my body and mind: putting her in a woollen jumper with a large neck label and very tight wristbands, manmade fibre trousers with a fixed waistband, wrinkly socks with big seams and shoes with inside ridges; then sitting her in a crowded room with a flickering flourescent light and a heaped plate of her homemade corned beef hash in front of her, whilst I stand behind her crashing cymbals together and bellowing 'What the hell is your problem girl!' It wouldn't make her love me, but it might help her understand me just a little bit.

If AS didn't typically affect my general social confidence, I wouldn't mind one way or another.

This whole world seems to only value people who have social confidence. Humans are social creatures. God knows why - humans couldn't talk back when we were apes.

Equation:
Everybody makes mistakes, but nobody likes mistakes. If humans are meant to be social creatures, why does Autism exist? Because it is nature's mistake against the social meant-to-be of humans. So what am I? A mistake. I'm wrong. I'm not meant to be here. I'm not valued. I don't have a high IQ, I don't have much social confidence. Why am I here? What's the point of me? What's the use? I've been on job-seekers for 3 years all because all the jobs I have come across either want someone to deal with customers, or if not then they want someone with a good IQ. I'm neither, and because of my mental stupidity, I'm soon going to be chucked off of job-seekers. It is a f*****g stereotype.

Anyone who criticises against me to ''get a life'', think about it first. It's OK if you're either clever, or able to plod through life on your own without caring for company, but if you're someone like me, who ain't clever at anything and can't make friends as good as the rest of your family, and you suffer from anxiety, and you suffer from lonliness, then it's so horrible. Fancy that - you only get one life and you're a mistake. f**k that - I WANT TO f*****g SOCIALISE!! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !! !

In a heartbeat.

Though I wouldn't want to end up as one of those dorks on the bus who sits in the back with their mobile phones playing 50cent at max volume annoying everyone in the bus.

I notice many posters are saying they wouldn't want to be NT because they want to remain unique. Many NTs are highly unique, eccentric, focused on special interests.
Autism is not required for any of this.
Is every author who writes a 500 page book on a single subject autistic? Obviously not.
I believe AS has driven me to the fringes of society, I am on a different wavelength than other people. In a vast chaotic universe people create a sort of social channel that they all tune to, even marginalized people create their own subcultures. As a person with AS I am on my own channel, and reception from the NTs is fuzzy.
Are people with Aspergers more intelligent? Not necessarily, but it may seem that way because we're so focused on our areas of interest.
I would give up my Aspergers in a heartbeat.
