I've had near sleep shutdowns when out, not socialising, just by being out.

I actually knew someone before I knew anything about seizures and she said around strobe lights she would freak out and fall asleep. I almost told her she could have been autistic because that sounded like a shutdown. I recently hate episodes like that. This connection between seizures and shutdowns is very close. Not saying they are the exact same thing but my, they do have their similarities.
I like to find patterns in things, especially if it has to do with disorders in the brain.

This is going to sound really weird.

But I love riding my scooter [Vespa] after social activities. For me its another way to decompress, its me and the vehicle and the wind. And freedom.

That's great. I usually collapse on my bed.

Yeah I do that too.

I get aggressive and angry after social activities most times because I'm tired, no longer can think on a social level.

My family has to suffer through this, only that is if they try to talk to me when I just come home from college.

I actually got so angry that I ran out of the house and went for a jog. Must do that more often.

to the OP, i can't think of anything other than avoidance, to avoid the energy drain of being around other dissimilar people. i made the mistake of actually going into town [ a major endeavor for me] to attend a SOTU viewing party. i thought i would encounter people similar to me but they were all middle-class and professional types who looked down their collective noses at me. i was wiped out afterwards, and slept for 12 hours when i got home.

Yes, yes, yes. I don't understand why it is so hard for people to realize that they need to leave me alone after I've been socializing. I need a little time to myself, to rest and recover.

Absolutely must limit social activities to save myself. I think that is somewhat inherent in ASD people actually. I am considered an introvert (pretty extreme) in fact and live alone on a 40-acre farm.

I am overly aroused (anxious, irritable, agitated) after social interaction....not sleepy!! Sometimes psychical activity helps me release tension. I usually CANNOT sleep after too much interaction

I usually feel exhausted and drained after social activites, especially group activities and crowded social events. I'm usually ok after one on one social activites.

I often have meltdowns after social events, because I tend to get so exhausted and overwhelmed and frustrated at my social difficulties or the way other people behave towards me.

What helps is if I make sure to take breaks during the event, such as going to the toilet for 10 minutes at a time a few times during the event, or if this is at someone's house I may go find their pet and spend some time in solitude with the pet to soothe myself.

Hmmm.....I wonder if that's why I don't notice social fatigue much - too spaced out and alive with excitement? When I was more socially active, I didn't need much sleep either.
By the way, you did mean physical activity, not psychical, didn't you?

I find such activities like karate exercises with a partner very exhausting. Keeping my attention on that other person is almost impossible for me, my mind is escaping into total unawareness all the time.
I have been doing karate for three years because it taught me so well to deal with social situations. But lately two things have changed - I found a name and "users manual" for my social wierdness - the aspergers - I don't see it as weakness as I did before. And I also somewhat reached my goal to become more capable of taking the initiative of verbal interaction when I wanted or needed, I'm now pretty good at acting normal and getting things done.
And with all that I don't have the motivation to endure these karate partners any more. Because this thing has not got any easier while big part of my motivation has left

Like a tattoo , expensive , pointless , pain fall.

And why would I want to be like everyone else these days their a lot of people with them, Yuck how revolting are they going to look when their 75 with their wrinkled and sun damaged skin ?

Do you really need Buddhist insignia and poorly translated Thai phrases etched on to your skin whats the point in that ?

God yes. Yesterday I hosted a birthday party for my son, and had to deal with 16 kids, their parents, and a bunch of in-laws. Today I had to spend the entire day on the couch recuperating. I could barely drag myself to the kitchen to eat.

I don't know how to avoid it, I just know that I'll be completely useless the next day.

My jaw used to ache and I used to feel tired and drained after just a short while.
