You're just wrong, but more importantly your classification of pornography should have no effect on how teenagers use it, because that could stigmatise them. Only their own opinion matters. I got the impression the kid wasn't even sharing it, just watching it himself. So it's harm-free.

Fraac, you need to read the post more carefully. He IS exposing it to other kids!! ! They are making FUN of him because of it. If they haven't seen it, then how do they know to make fun of him for it? It is NOT harm-free to expose children to things their parents do not want them seeing. It isn't up to the child. It's up to their parents.

Wait, hentai is even WORSE than hard porn?

Hehe, totally, you should watch it. No, seriously - don't. You can make a fantasy even *harder*.
And I admit I saw quite a bit of hentai...Some of it actualy has a very intriguing plot and I can see how can it be absorbing, it's not like a porn for w*king off it's like a whole new level of perversion. Maybe it's good for exploring your sexuality but not for a young folks some of that stuff might cripple you.

There are some sub genres like lolicon where they depict young girls (which I know from newspapers' headlines btw) and something else for boys. And then there is everything with everything. Some hentai is actually illegal - for it shows *********. Which is obviously not to say that it all does, as said, some of it actually very well done.

@fraac The kid is at school! It's a public place! He can download and then watch it.

If they're making fun of him because of it, they're hardly being harmed, are they?

You know what they say: "the more you deny them something, the more they will want it"

Mr Xxxx, here it is.

I don't give a rat's posterior whether the kid's parents have a problem with it or not. They can tell it to Child Protective Services. If somebody shows this stuff to my kid, or even has it where she can see it, their butt is going to be flayed. I don't care who tries to defend this or why. Not in the school. Not near my kid. Period. End of sentence.

I understand that's your position on it, but can you see that that's only your position and not a generally useful rule? Porn is one of those hot button subjects where anyone who has issues needs to pipe down, for the good of everyone actually involved.

Ummm... in the US - NO PORN IN SCHOOL. Cripes, I can't even believe this is in question. People are still protesting and getting court orders to prevent sex education in high schools and people think it is ok to watch porn in school? And, if he has a taste for hentai - the kid is probably watching some of the most degrading, misoginistic porn available. If he truly has AS he either A) doesn't know boundries and does not realize what is acceptable and what is not or B) he knows full well and uses his diagnosis as an excuse. Neither is acceptable.

If his parents 'know', I'll bet they know he watches anime... and that they do not know what hentai is. If he's told them its an anime (cartoon) genre there is a good chance they have no clue he's watching porn in school.

This is totally unacceptable in a school environment. What he does at home is between him and his parents. His dx is not an excuse to force his choices on others - especially illegal ones. I'd go straight to a councelor and report it - not tattletale style, just matter of fact what you have witnessed. Just the facts. Then let them decide how to proceed. If they do nothing - tell your parents that you are being exposed to porn in the classroom and why and, hopefully, they will take it to the next level.

Unbelievable.

Once and once only. This is a child. These are children. Your argument has no merit on that basis. I am not making any moral judgments about pornography. I could care less what an adult does in the privacy of his or her own home. When there are children involved it is against the law. Period. Peace out.

How many people know what hentai is? I do but maybe that's the problem. Maybe the parents don't know how shocking it is. It should be illegal for him to watch it anyway.

Do you know how much torture it is to see that censored line? I need to know, the curiosity is killing me.

This is a value judgement stemming from your own issues. By saying this you render your entire position worthless. You can't afford to so carelessly mix value judgements with parental advice, it'll turn out bad for everyone.

Sylvia, you're getting angry, that reveals personal issues. They shouldn't come into play. We're talking about the most sensitive way to deal with children. Obviously he shouldn't be porning in class but bringing up 'the law' when talking about kids' natural urges is harmful overkill.

Uh, what? Oh, no you didn't...

Pipe down? WTF? Can you say "suggestion of censorship?"

fraac, all you've done here is repeat yourself, and suggest that anyone with an "issue" with porn, should just butt out. So, we're not supposed to discuss issues here now?

You don't just tell people you don't agree with them, you tell them they are wrong. Then you turn around and advise others "I understand that's your position on it, but can you see that that's only your position..."

Funny how you can lecture others about keeping in mind that their opinions are just their opinions, but you can't seem to accept that your own are just as much so. No, you are just right, and everyone that disagrees with you is wrong, or only expressing opinions that are unhelpful or wrong.

It's utterly pointless to expect a true civil discussion when that's your approach.

You have NO right to tell others to pipe down, no matter what there opinions are, even if they are DEAD wrong. No one has personally attacked you.

What the FLAMING HELL does anyone's personal opinion of porn have to do with the best way to handle a kid who likes hentai in class? Trees/woods much?
