I knew, that there was something off about me, though I felt very normal. Many people told me: "Atypical", "somewhat unusual" or downright "weird". Through my formative years I came to think, that I was a "wrong" person. I wondered how my mates did to be so right,ok, normal and INCLUDED.
When I learned about autism at eightteen, I got a bit fascinated, because I could somehow relate. I had lots of problems. My friend, who studied to be a kindergarten pedagogue exclaimed: "You act like autistic people".
So, I knew, that I at least had some traits in that direction. I didn´t get the right diagnosis before 2013, at 60, but I wish I had. It could have saved me from years with wrong labels and a battered self confidence.

I've felt different from the other kids for as long as I remember. I never knew why. I guess what's normal for one person is different for another. Then at age 16, I was diagnosed with Aspergers. And everything started to make sense.
