Aspie94 (almost) the same thing has happened to me on a parenting board I frequent!! I have come close to being banned, but it never has happened officially, but I cannot count the number of times I have been flamed and vilified there for saying things that I honestly thought were ok. It's like I offend and piss people off on that board, just by touching my keyboard. Like you, I think it is just that I am being honest and straightforward.
For instance I recently started a thread on there about something I saw in a grocery store where a woman nearly assaulted a clerk because she didn't get cash back on her foodstamps. Well guess what happened? I received a bunch of replies saying I must be prejudiced against people on foodstamps for making such a post. Go figure.[/quote]
You know, I'll never "get" NT's. How is that prejudiced? Did THEY miss the big picture, being that the woman got violent? WE don't get the big picture???? I think Aspies are more honest than NTs. Let's face it. How many times have you overheard NT's whining about people of color or those on food stamps or other government programs (those of us in the US). They act as if these people are personally stealing their wallets. You can't tell me ONE of those people, probably more, resent those on food stamps, yet they put on a huge display of being offended about something that this post wasn't even about.
Even if I could improve my social skills, I'm not convinced I'd want to socialize with NTs much. I wish I didn't have executive function deficits, but, aside from that, I'm pretty happy with things as they are. One thing I can't stand is fake righteousness.
