I don"t feel autistic?

University of Connecticut researchers analyzed 34 children who had been diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder early on, but who no longer met the criteria for the disorder and lost all its symptoms. They used cognitive and observational tests to compare these 34 children with 34 classmates who were not autistic, reports the BBC. The result? The two groups of kids were nearly indistinguishable, and those who were at one point diagnosed with autism showed no signs of issues with language, face recognition, communication, or social interaction.
I would also like to state that I have only so much faith in test results LOL
I went to the eye doctor with an eye problem. I was taken to get an eye test/exam. I was asked if I could read the letters on the chart. I said Yes. Then I would read the letters. The tester said I had 20/20 vision. I said No, that can't be, because I have a hard time reading those letters on the chart. The tester said, "Yes but you did fine. You got them all right." I finally figured out that using my intellect to "fill in the blanks" and cognitively work out what the letters were (I could decipher them by where the faint corners and round parts were)--despite the fact that they were nearly unreadable--or straining to guess at the answers, was working against me and not letting the doctor help me. At my job, I take pride in being able to decipher lawyers' handwriting (or hierglyphics). So it took me only up until a few months ago to finally realize this. Because it was an eye "test/exam" I struggled to get those answers right--whatever the cost. Really dumb in hindsight, but this proclivity also flows over into other areas, as you can imagine. I now tell the person giving the eye test--Yes I can READ the letters to you--but I can't SEE the letters very clearly.

Do you know where I can find the actual research study? News coverage of scientific research is generally pretty badly garbled, in my experience.
