Jake,
It's taken a lot of therapy, trust me. It doesn't come easy. I'm always adjusting the way I behave.

It saddens me. I know there's a "me" inside of me, and that it's good. It's just that that "me" often doesn't know how to relate. And when I adopt NT methods for relating to others it sort of obstructs the "me" that is trying to relate! So that makes me (and all of us) interpersonal paradoxes to others.

Moreover this is not a head trip. It's real. It's autism.

I've observed that fashion semiotics can be a useful tool (appropriate style opens some doors while closing others, socially speaking). Also, having had a bittersweet adventure through life, I need to keep a lid on my negative opinions. Its important to have a few friends who can take it though. Or a counsellor.

Very good post, the whole of it. Especially like this part Jake

I kind of resent my parents for not raising me in the Catholic church now that I know priests say "What da Fruck".

I didn't make the "fashion semiotics" remark, but as a half-assed Honours philosophy student with little familiarity with the term "semiotics", let me explain. I think very generally "semiotics" has to do with signs. (A quick Google says it's the "study of signs and sign processes".) So I think "fashion semiotics" would be something along the lines of "signalling to people through fashion". I know I do this, as most of my communication is done through t-shirts (which I then cover up with the same grey hooded sweatshirt everyday).

Well, goodness, I knew that. I suppose I thought there was more to it, that's all.

Usually I wear my clerical clothes, but if I wear a TITLE MMA T-shirt and shorts, I come off respectably as a thug.
