I'm very uptight and "adult" at work and anywhere I'm not comfortable. At home... I'm not THAT childish (he says, putting his plush fish down on top of the Lego car). OK, my manner isn't very child-like, but I like playing and general silliness. I'm lucky enough to have a few friends who are the same, none of them (I think) autistic, though one is dyspraxic and another has ADHD.

It's getting more acceptable for adults not to be humourless, serious grown-ups the whole damn time. Sales of toys and games to adults for their own use must be at a record high, and nowadays we're even allowed to tell jokes that aren't mean-spirited and/or racist!

I feed and photograph and track the lives of a group of waterbirds near me, and although at first I did all this silently, and only talked to these birds when nobody was passing by, now I don't care who hears me talk to them.

I'm very fond of wild geese, but I haven't tried talking to them yet! I sometimes make snow-goose gurgles back at the snow geese, but my accent must be off or something.

Actually, I act quite the opposite.

I thought I kept a lid on my 'kiddie' behavior, but my partner caught me arguing with cheese in the supermarket (the cheese started it!!) so I guess I'm not as good at hiding it as I thought

Same here. I also think my interests and thoughs are deeper than everyone else's. I also have childish interests like pokemon.

I act like a kid who badly needs attention at home. I can't leave my cats alone, I hold them, play with them which my aunt whom lives with us finds extremely annoying. I flap my hands, I say hi to people a lot, I just act very childish at home because there I'm most comfortable with being myself.

At school or when I'm talking to people I don't know that well I act formal, shy and mature (I think), but as soon as I get home, I start to act like an eleven year old. Sometimes I wonder if I am mentally younger than I am (I am seventeen), because I haven't tasted alcohol, had sex or anything that would be considered normal for a teenager my age, but (not to be arrogant) I tend to talk about deeper things (at least I consider them deeper) than most people my age. But I do play Minecraft, I still love Lego, and I always want new stuff! Is anyone else familiar with this?

Doesn't everyone do this?

All. The. Time. I can be extremely child-like at home.

Don't believe the gender tag. I was born intersex and identify as queer, girl-leaning. So while I can sometimes present as an effeminate guy, that's less than half the time and if anything I'd prefer it say "female" of the two choices offered. I can't change it though, it's bugged.
