   Specter you are funny!! Tufted titmouse? Now that is a very good question! I was one of them about a week ago and look at me now!! RAVEN!! !
common bird of forest and feeders in the eastern United States, the Tufted Titmouse is often seen foraging in groups with other birds. It is quick to scold predators and is easily attracted to the mobbing calls of other species.

As you make more posts your boxes fill up, I have transformed from all sorts to what I am now, a raven I think!! But if you keep on posting you get promoted! And the boxes fill up until you reach the dizzy ranks of professor or veteran I think! To be honest I am not quite sure, anyone else put us straight?

Blue crayon eh! Bet you have different shades and a few sparkles though!! I love sparkles, glad you love me coz I love you too!!

Power to the JELLYBEANS!! Whooohoooooo!! !!

It doesn't bother me, as long as it is being used in a positive or neutral context. It hasn't really caught on yet in the NT world, and I DON'T use it there for that very reason. Among ourselves, yes, that's different. But I don't want someone I don't know and who is not one of us calling me that. It's like the word "ret*d". That used to be a legitimate term, now it is derogatory, and I do not like being called that, nor do I like being around people who toss it around carelessly. It's not just a word. It's an attitude. Just like the "N" word. The day that NT's start using Aspy or autistic as a careless put-down term of anyone they consider inferior, then I will stop using that term and insist on something else. But most people outside WP do not know that I am ASD, and I don't care to enlighten them either.

It makes me feel like a freak

Does anyone else hate the word, and if so.. why?

KatieRose:
I hate it too. But nothing should make you feel like a freak. You aren't. It can make you uncomfortable, and you have every right (or maybe more like an obligation) to object, but you shouldn't take it personally and let it make you feel bad.

Actually in an Aussie accent there's a lot more;

Asp (snakes)

than

Arse (bum)

in the word Aspie.

I just said to myself the word Arsepie.
It sounds quite posh until you realise that it contains arse.
Now it's just making me laugh.
Don't mind me.. :D :P

I just find the word aspie a convenient short form. I saw it used on WP first and just accepted it.

I like Aspie and AS as a shortening when talking to people I call it Asperger's or those who know AS never Asperger's Syndrome it sounds so clinical and patronising

Asperger's Syndrome sounds more descriptive to me, but aspie is friendlier, gentler.

I don't think I really mind what any of it is called if it doesn't make us sound as if we are hopeless, completely defective or freaks.

I like the term aspie. I discovered it here at WP or another place at the Internet, don't remember, and it made me laugh and say: oh, that's what I maybe am? Okay then, I like that.
I use it about myself as an unformal term, but I use Asperger when in a more formal context (being very glad that it doesn't make any more or less filthy associations in Danish.  ), or to make sure that people know what I'm talking about, or at least that the chance is better that they know. ("Aspie" is kind of a "subcultural language" term, and not widely known, at least not in Denmark - and not even in the local psychiatry they knew the concepts "aspie", "neurotypical", or "stimming" - or yes, of course, but just not the words, but then I taught them the "subcultural" words, haha. :D )

The jellybean idea is cool, but then again, not even NTs are all the same. But okay, marshmallows can be different too.

Oooh yes ya know, we can have glittery marshmallows, dull ones, sparkly ones, squishy ones etc etc! BUT me hey I like being a colourful jellybean! Even if I am unique!

The jellybean concept is friendly, gentle and not personal. Grown men with piercings and tatoos gladly admit to being a jellybean! And nt's like being marshmallows as well!
