Hi guys. I don't mean the sensory attack of actually being in a movie theatre, I mean the movies and their plots. Are you able to follow them well? Do you get lost in the nonverbal nuances often used by the actors? If so, please give examples. What kind of movies do you like?

I don't really have any problems, going to the movies. Those things don't really bother me.

Depends on the movie.

A lot of Hollywood movies in the past 30 years or so have been dumbed down considerably so that the average American can understand them. I have no problems at all following these, and I usually cringe when they get to the part where they spell everything out for you >_<

Then there's some movies like Casablanca and Blade Runner that I have to watch a few times to figure out...which I don't really have many objections to, as long as the movie's enjoyable enough 8)

Sometimes I get a little confused when there are characters who look very similar (or you don't get a good look at their face, or hear their name), and one guy pops back into the movie later, and I'm not sure who (s)he is. Not sure if this is a faceblindness thing or not.

If the movie is good or I am interested I tend to get completely absorbed into it, same for TV shows too really. In that regard I have a problem when people are talking or such during the movie, makes it hard to follow what is being said and I can get very annoyed. I might miss things, I don't know, I just get the hyper focus when watching something I am interested in so am oblivious to perhaps the non-verbal nuances.

Following movie plots has never been a problem with me. Over the years I've gotten a lot better at reading body language, so that's not too much of a problem either. My favorite types of movies are cult classics.

I lurve watching, films but only really specific ones. Some NT films I can deal with, but my favourite types are generall cartoon films (not necessarily Disney, although I love most of those as well). I guess these are my favourite genres (not necessarily in order):

Musicals.
Cartoons.
Humour (clever, non-slapstick humour mostly).
Romance.
Animation.

I have never, bar during childhood, had difficulties following movie plots. Infact I often have to explain to my family what's going on as the movie is playing and I can still keep track of the plot as I do.

Then again, when I watch a movie I pay attention to the facts, the non-verbal nuances are largely irrelivant as you can deduce motives and character traits from other sources.

I notice this more in television shows than in movies, but it drives me to distraction when they cast two actors in the same story who look fairly similar. They're usually both pretty-boy underwear model types with no particularly distinguishing characteristics to set them apart.

As long as I'm sitting fairly far back in the theatre, I'm good. I love going to see movies.

I tend to just watch the movie all the way through... But the porblem is that I have the urge to stim when its a very good movie so I tend to miss out... But when people ask me questions on paper, I find it alot harder to answer them and I only would understand by watching it a few times... Sometimes once depending on what movie it is?

I do that too, and I end up chewing up the straw of my drink and tearing apart the cup by the end of the movie.

I love movies and have no problem with them, I even guess in to the future storyline when watching a film with my friend and say what's going to happen and he always tells me to shut the f**k up.
He found it rather impressive at first but now I'm just ruining it for him from time to time.
Even though I love movies many are very predictable for me and I just watch them to make my brain relax.

couldn't agree more, watching a movie is one of the few conscious times when I'm not thinking about 10 different things at once.

To me watching a movie in the theatre is not about plot or such, but is more a sensory experience (like an amusement park for the audio and visual senses).

If I want to watch a movie for the plot, then I need to watch it somewhere other than a movie theatre.

As such, I prefer if I am going to watch a movie in the a theatre, that it is either more about strong visuals (sci-fi/fantasy/horror for instance) or has predominately "short payoffs" that do not require a comprehensive overview of the bigger picture (such as comedies where "jokes" are often indepedent of wider of plot themes).

I do find that whether at home of in the theatre, I really cannot follow "action sequences" easily and often am completely lost as to what is happening in things such as fight or chase scenes.

I also have issues if two characters are too similar in appearance. Sometimes I can also have problems realising a character is the same character if their hair style is too different between sceneds.

Yeah, it's golden. Earlier today I got this surge and thought I'd figure out the cause to why hair turns gray with age.
I sat for 5 hours straight reading up on melanocytes/melanin, vitamins, enzymes catalysis of chemical reactions, protein, keratin fiber structure (then I went of road and started reading and "wasted" my time on the biological matter chitin..) and the oxidation of phenols.

Around 00:00 I hear this high pitched sound and lower my music and I can hear my brain frying with this viscous shrieking sound so I said f**k this I'll get on that tomorrow and watched Dante's Inferno: The Animated Epic.
It was cool but not really special, great brain massage though.

And now after scanning WP for about 2 hours I will finish myself off with some crap movie cuz my head is still singing
*ring* *ring* and that's that.
