Talking to my doctor
I've never had to pick my own psychiatrist/psychologist before, and I have no idea how to go about it. Fortunately, I'm limited to the ones who accept my insurance.
Complicating the process, I'd like to no longer be, well, self-diagnosed -- I'd like to have a doctor tell my either "you have Asperger's" or "you don't have Asperger's, but you clearly have problems, and we're going to work on those." However, I don't want to sound like I'm hopping on the bandwagon, or like I read about it and became convinced I fit. What approach might I take? People who were diagnosed as adults, who broached the subject? How did the initial discussion go?
