I am not observant at all. I live in my own head all of the time. I want to escape it because outside seems so fascinating but I can't escape my head, I want to enjoy the winter beecause I love winter. How to I observe better? It kind of hurts my eyes and head and back when look up all of the time.

I'm also a major daydreamer. I've started meditating lately, and over time, this has helped me to exercise just a tad bit more control over my thoughts, overall. I started out doing 2 minutes, then 5, then 7-8, then 10, then 15. One way to meditate is to either focus all of your attention on an image, object or word in your head. Another way is to focus on your breath and inhale through your nose for 4 seconds, hold your breath for 4, and exhale for 8 seconds (possibley through your mouth). The key is to breath through your belly. I recommend briefly meditating at least 1ce a day.
Also, walking and standing with a correct posture helps my mind to be quieter. Lately I've noticed that whenever I daydream I slouch over a bit.

When I want to show more interest in a person during conversation, I copy their body language. I don't copy it precisely, and not immediately if they change posture or change frequently, but I find it helps somewhat.

That's the best double post I've ever seen.

As for noticing things, I think it takes a willful practice to make it a habit. I've always thought I was very observant, but it's selective, I notice a lot but will often not see what everyone else takes most notice of. I don't have good filters of what's important to take in, seems random at times.

Same goes with your eyes, if you don't gaze out enough, your eyes will get stressed when they try. You need to exercise your eyes when you are spending too much time looking at close up things. When I spend time on my iphone, I make sure to look up once in a while and focus on the farthest thing I can see, it can be disorienting. If you spend enough time with your head down, it can be quite disturbing to gaze out into the distance.
